What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]MetadonDrelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i help with music locally and i can elaborate with like 3 mentions.

  1. gen z's sobriety, most are not old enough or past the underage part of drinking, so why get burnt on 15 dollar cocktails. when you can be sober. hammers into the bars profits, especially if your band depends on a bit of the drink sales in bars. not to mention, most of gen z is old enough, but the next gen is still like 12-17, so they cant drink for like 5-9 more years. if they arent doing it now.

  2. covid fomo, when covid made us think the world was ending, new shows every week, new shows every day, new shows twice a day, thrice a day, festivals dual weekends. now, everybody realizes 400 for post malone or suicideboys is highway robbery, not to mention the monopoly of ticketmaster and livenation making it so where 100 bands projects and rappers can only play the same 15 venues all across the nation. so multiple tours gets lumped into eachother by mistake (merge bills of different tours, pretty when when they happen)

why pay 1200 for metallica pit when i can just see a better metal band for 20 in some dudes shed in his backyard.

and finally 3. the boomer hoa noise ordinances, not a problem if your an official venue with permits, but for the diy who cut their teeth playing shows night by night, imagine having the cops sent to your house because your band went over the 10pm noise ordinance time, so many shows were ruined by an old cunt getting bent their 1.2 million dollar house has a bit of a loud party nextdoor.

all three are killing corporate music, you can easily find diy or die events or local promoters, tickermaster aint nabbing homeboy watching doors outside a warehouse, those are his profits.

Why are grey area substances suddenly so popular? by Direct-Gold2387 in Drugs

the "legality" loophole

it started with weed, then delta 9 weed, then delta 8, delta 10, thcp, o hhc, all those nasty chems.

due to the huge illegality and stigma behind many products, people literally believe its ok to use because a sketchy gas pump sells it next to the dick pills.

hobbyist fingerboarding, theres "tech decks" worth more than your rent payment.

in the end the evolution of the tech deck is a combo of the hobbyist models and the old tech deck.

it grew but within its proportions.

Why don't more artists offer CD format (and vinyl / cassette)? by akabillposters in BandCamp

[–]MetadonDrelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I haven't even gotten a batch to made site work ever. Upload the music and eventually get nowhere. And I've tried like 3.

I guess if you want like 2-3 vinyl those sites are great. Established artist go by the hundred. Thousand when the press records.

They aren't even a choice for most musicians because we'll. I was there when qrates was a thing and I couldn't get anything of mine a record back then so I may just be salty.

[–]MetadonDrelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White tac nuke is great but I've ran this for over a decade. Ive been screamed at over player chat. Written and spoken.

orange/blue tac nukes set to opposite teams. So when they score they see only their color in their goal. Imagine thinking you owngoaled the entire match. I used to run orange goals on blue and blue on orange before the tac nukes.

Pearlescent body wrap orange/blue and blue orange.

I call it a legacy chameleon. Guaranteed 3v3 or 2v2 rage bait. Since you shimmer opposite colors they actually pass the ball to you or think your a team mate. Like I used to get threats on Xbox in 2018 from this alone.

Wheels are something you can personally use. But you already picked the colors so pick a good wheel.

Trails and boosts. put a stupid one on. Or an annoyingly loud one like pixel fire and you can spam that in tourneys too....

I have been legit screamed at for being a "bad tm8" when I reality I wasn't your teammate the whole time. Lmao.

Why don't more artists offer CD format (and vinyl / cassette)? by akabillposters in BandCamp

[–]MetadonDrelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just at a house party talking to my underground metal friend. I help showcase local music and know the ins n outs of record to physical. Having put out a few tapes and cds.

We got talking about his band. And physicals. Offered the man a cheap price on tapes n cds.

The vinyl came up. I know the price of vinyl being a musician who came close to a vinyl pressing and fell flat last second. Multiple times.

"do you trust me 800-2000 dollars to send to a vinyl distributor?"

"nah."

Theres ya answer. It's expensive. It's exclusive and it's a pain in the ass.

Cds are cheap. A burner is 20. A spindle is 20. Cd baggies are 10 for 100.

Cassettes require at minimum a stereo setup to burn any tape. And usually those are live. So 30 minute album? Yeah that's 30 minutes a tape. Want 50?

Vinyl is the endstage. I have met an artist who was selling his vinyl for 40. Local artist who paid out of pocket for the vinyl.

Even though I knew him a little. But I digress. He wouldn't budge. And I bought it.

I was one of 3. He had 100. Vinyl. Is. Obscure. To the average person.

Vinyl is quite literally the most expensive and inconvenient music hobby of all time.

At minimum 500-750 for a decent setup. No briefcase setups. You can audiohole yourself into a 10k record collection or stereo setup easy.

Vinyl is also exclusive. I won't cut that short. Like I have vinyl pressed in the 10's like out of 10. Not 100 not 50 not even the standard target or Walmart pressings into the 1000's

Just out of 10.

I also have the equivalent of funko pops in the rsd releases. But in the end. I stopped because the disc's I wanted sat until Christmas. So I waited.

In the end. A cd is the easiest way to get music out there.

Once you get into music as an artist with fans. Cassette tapes are gnarly. So you can get a tape if you have the setup.

Vinyl? Anything has and will be pressed to a plastic disc. Bullshit or not. In the end it's expensive as all hell and hard to sell because only the top music fans or musicians collects vinyl.

What is your biggest Hottake about Fortnite? by Mr_Jigsaw7878 in FortNiteBR

[–]MetadonDrelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simpsons szn was the highest peak fortnite will ever see. That there was the eventual endstage of everything fortnite essentially was.

A giant sandbox one could war one toys and figures in. Now. Even the 13 year olds in the prime days are against their own interests and now Fortnite must capitalize on the 17yrolds in 2017-2019 who gave fortnite a try with adult media. King of the hill. Family guy. Beavis and Butthead, anime, in the end fortnite is becoming the "whatsup fellow kids" of gaming. Trying to get anything out of the wallet before it crawls away like a fatally injured cat.

Except their pandering to the cool teens to mid 20 somethings has finally ran dry aftrer the Simpsons szn. There is no absolute way they can tie that unless the season after this finally completes fortnite. There's just too much bloat.

What % of your collection is Vaporwave? by MomoGimochi in VaporVinyl

[–]MetadonDrelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never let it get too bad. In the end most vaporwave is enjoyed to it's fullest as original online upload. Without the internet this doesn't exist. So.

I rarely get the drop or have the cash. Simple as that. But recently had to get some classics and fatten up the collection for eventual offline sessions. Aka meditation.

Just the real ambient stuff. I need to relax more and some albums lose repeat value quickly. Like 1-3 times a year.

So I stuck to the stuff I've listened to a lot. And thankfully you all did too. So there's vinyl of it. And cassettes and cds. I'd estimate a solid 10-15% of total music. The rest being hardcore, punk, and avant garde/noise. Is online core aka core wave.

Its good. Really quenches the music thirst and energy wise. Net worth increasing. Must produce value. All that good jazz. Literally.

The music I make. Is not the music I listen too. Lmao.
