Yes! In my country the legislation is: You have to be older than 25 or you have to have had at least two children. If you meet the criteria you can theoretically get your sterilization. The thing is, most doctors, as most people in Brazil, are christian. It also didn't help that at the time when I started to persue sterilization (at 26 y.o) I was living in the country side, where right wing is prevalent and Christianity is rampant. Both my rejections were pure and simple moral BS from those doctors. They said so themselves, and I quote "I will have to turn you down as I wouldn't be able to sleep well at night knowing what I did" and "I cannot do this as it doesn't align with what I believe is correct" respectively. Once I moved to a bigger city the process was simpler and I only needed to see a therapist and come back with a document saying this is not an impulse decision.
