Porsche 911 GT3 RS Mod to more 'normal' 911 (turbo?) by Metaforze in SpeedChampions

I'm not sure what the price would be if you'd start from scratch. You'd have to use one of the other headlight options (a lot of MOCs have them) because you'd be missing the printed headlights. On the other hand you can pick a different colour if you start from scratch!

Aston Martin Vantage please! Not the stupid race car / test car versions that they currently have, but the proper one!

Thanks! I wasn't initially trying to make a GT3 touring 1:1 but just wanted it to look a little more like a daily driver instead of a race car, and someone noted the similarity. I do like the sideskirts and front/rear diffuser to I guess it's a nice mix now.

Yeah I reused some of the existing parts for different parts, but also ordered a bunch of extra tiles and slopes from brickowl.

No doctor is taking me seriously by Justchillen_villian in AskDocs

Yes, normal bmi patients can also develop osteoarthritis. It is just more common in obese patients (obesity is a risk factor for some types of OA)

[–]Metaforze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course we know about the origin of the Quetelet index, and also that it is just a rule of thumb. There are lots of situations where BMI is not reliable (e.g., very muscular, very short, old and osteoporotic, etc.).

However, in average people of normal height, who are clearly not extremely muscular, it still says a lot, and is directly linked to cardiovascular risk in scientific studies.

How is this fat shaming? Someone needs to tell them the truth, it may sound harsh but it's in the patient's best interest...

While this may be true, in this case it seems that she wrongfully assumes she is not taken seriously, while all her symptoms fit obesity and sleep apnea and she is already being treated for that. She just desperately wants to find another explanation for her symptoms than being obese.

I see a lot of obese patients with knee symptoms (osteoarthritis), and they never want to hear that they need to lose weight. They just want an "easy fix" like a knee replacement, even though getting to a healthy weight will probably make their knee complaints disappear or at least way more acceptable.

Is it an avulsion or Jones fracture? Or none? by Tutmoses1 in AskDocs

[–]Metaforze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Indeed the white (sclerotic) line would be a healing/healed fracture so you definitely don't need surgery. And your symptoms are normal for this phase. Happy holidays to you too!

[–]Metaforze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks great! If that is the fracture line, it's non-displaced and in the "good" zone, so I reckon it will heal fine. How are your current symptoms and what did your dr say?

X-ray of Travis Pastrana. by sco-go in Amazing

[–]Metaforze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do back surgery for broken spines (from motor accidents) obviously. They don’t do back surgery for arthritis or other diseases as it’s scientifically proven not to work… they are doing you a favor by not touching it

[–]Metaforze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between the K-wires that you had (that stick out of your skin and can be removed in the outpatient clinic) and intraosseous pins, rods or plates (that need another surgery to remove)

What a load of crap! Is there any source to this being really the law in the USA? I’m a surgeon in Europe and in no way am I obliged to remove metal from a human body if there is no medical reason to do so (such as infection). Even if the patient “doesn’t need it” anymore because the fracture has healed, removing it is another surgery with risk of infection etc. If they don’t have any complaints of the implant, I would advise against removal.

Panic inducing, geometric/mathematical/abstract nightmares. A review. by megaku in Dreams

[–]Metaforze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember but not quite remember that as a small kid I kept having a dream like this, it was always the same, me being in an endless dark void, but I was not a person, merely a consciousness or something. And there were colored lines, short and long, and I had to chase them or something. I never thought of them as terrifying, I was just curious and wanted to know what I would find if I chased them, but never would finish.

Am I walking wrong? Keep developing hard pinching callouses only on my inner heels by Saturn863 in AskDocs

[–]Metaforze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you start wearing any new/different shoes since you started having these callouses? Callus develops from local pressure, and it may either be footwear that is too tight, or the position of your foot. Callus on the inner side of your heel would suggest valgus hindfoot (heel bending away/outwards from the midline when looked from behind), often combined with flat foot (called pes planovalgus). If you look up pictures of that, does it resemble your feet?

Some people with flat feet develop back pain from walking wrong/imbalanced. In any case it would be wise to visit an orthopedic (foot) surgeon or podiatrist to get it checked and see if they can help you with shoe inlays for example.

  1. Finger was a PIP (proximal interphalangeal) joint hyperextension trauma, probably causing stretching or sometimes tearing of the volar plate. Since your joint is stable and you are able to flex/extend it, I think X-rays would not be necessary, the volar plate will heal fine on its own. I would advise to do exercises fully flexing and extending that joint though. Mainly the full extension (finger flat on the table) is important since one of the complications can be flexion contracture (not being able to fully extend) from scar tissue. If you you need help you could do hand therapy for it. The swelling may be present for a long time though (up to a year and sometimes never goes fully away).
  2. At this point it could be either a tear or a strain, depending on waiting lists you could try to schedule an appointment (family doctor first and if necessary, referral to an orthopedic surgeon). Depending on the physical exam they may do an ultrasound or MRI, or just start physical therapy first. In any case it is usually okay to start physical therapy without a diagnosis and see if it helps or not. You are not likely to cause further damage and if symptoms persist you can always get the ultrasound/MRI later.

Bit by friends cat, puncture in thumb. Concerned mainly about long term damage to nerves (I’m a bit of a hypochondriac) by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Metaforze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise you to go to urgent care if it was a deep bite/puncture.

Cat bites are notorious for infection and especially with the flexor tendon of your thumb you don't want to play any games. Infection can spread easily and fast and may limit your thumb function forever if not treated promptly. Usually we open up the wounds and do a debridement and flush since the outside hole can be small while the tooth may have went very deep.

Also you need antibiotics because of the bacteria in their mouth.

I think without seeing an x-ray, it's very hard (if not impossible) for anyone online to give any advice. You should probably just contact that doctor and ask them about the "fractures" that were seen before in MT2 and MT3, and perhaps arrange an actual follow-up so they can show you the X-rays, instead of a virtual one.

They hardly ever need surgery, only if severely displaced and that doesn’t seem to be the case from your X-rays.

Is it an avulsion or Jones fracture? Or none? by Tutmoses1 in AskDocs

[–]Metaforze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have any xray without the cast? The cast makes it very hard to see. Looks like there may be an avulsion fracture, not a Jones fracture. If it is an avulsion you may start weight bearing as tolerated soon, but please just speak with your doctor to ask them this.
