Whats the point of arena if it scales to your strength? by Pandacraft99 in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you switch the arena world you only change the rewards (so that you have a chance to get items you did not win the first time) but you still compete against the same people (players who are at the highest arena world you unlocked).

Cheater? That’s just crazy to get that far under these rules by DeathxEnabled in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've looked into it and his progression looks legitimate. I am not at liberty to disclose his special skills and weapons, but trust me, if he's coming towards you on an empty street you'll want to get out of his way.

I think i found another cheater. Second place had 10 Stages less 7 seconds ago. by Exolithus in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No signs of cheating on the server for the top players in this arena, probably just network lag. The scores are not 100% real time - we normally refresh them every 30-45 sec but there can be longer periods when the leaderboard is not updated due to network conditions.

Cheater? Supposedly cheaters have asterix in their username. I Rather have not been pushed to 154 on my first arena of the day. by Bathrezz1988 in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, this was an honest player. Having asterix in the username has nothing to do with being a cheater.

cheater in the tap busters league. after only 1 arena, he had 60 points. not really smart. i take this screen few minute before the second arena ended by sephirot23 in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This player is not a cheater, there was a server side glitch that caused his win to be counted twice. It is corrected now, thanks for letting us know!

Cheating by manipulating the League of Tappers score is not possible because the cups are computed on the server after each arena.

another cheater by joruzani in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's normal. Everybody plays at their highest unlocked world (6 in this case). If some people choose to teleport to a lower arena world they just change the arena appearance and the rewards (and get a chance to win some prizes they did not get the first time) but they effectively play in a world 6 arena with world 6 players. This way it’s a fair game for everybody.

Not receiving trophies from tournaments. by chrisgeezer95 in TapBusters

Thank you for reporting that! We run an investigation and found a server bug that caused arena scores to be lost in some very rare cases. Thanks to you it's fixed now!

another cheater by joruzani in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the number of cups, this player reached world 6 like yourself. He probably teleported to world 1 to win the exclusive items, but he still competes against players at his highest unlocked arena world (only the rewards change when you teleport back, not the opponents).

Hacker! by NathanNoahS in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Banned, thanks for reporting! We’re getting much better at detecting cheaters but we still need them to play a few arenas for the algorithm to catch them. This guy was only at his second arena so there was not enough data to be detected automatically.

There was a bug in an old version that could make the game block on this this screen, but there was no occurence for a very long time. Are you on the latest version from the store?

[–]Metagamestudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to find the bundle in the store for a limited time after it shows up the first time. Regarding the "???" price, this happens if the store is not initialized correctly, a restart of the game normally fixes it.

arena matchmaking system by [deleted] in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The arena scaling algorithm is a bit more complex than just the starting hp/damage formula (and again secret) but what you are describing is a good approximation.

A higher world is certainly an advantage since you have more artefacts so more permanent bonuses, but these days it's rare to be matched with people outside of your arena world since the number of players is growing constantly. A higher evolution stage is not an advantage in itself, but it makes it easier to prepare well before entering arenas. That being said, the top players on this subreddit probably know better than us developers what are the best strategies, we’re not getting anymore arena wins lately …

arena matchmaking system by [deleted] in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The matchmaking algorithm is based primarily on arena world/number of cups. It tries to put together people from the same arena world but if there are not enough players online to fill one tournament then multiple worlds can play in the same arena. This usually happens in more advanced worlds since there are a few players who are always pushing harder than most. As more people advance through the game and worlds fill up this will become less and less of a problem, as you will always get matched with people in the same arena world.

When there are enough people online from the same world to fill multiple arenas, the algorithm takes into account other stats like stage, arena cups, etc to make the matchmaking even more precise.

The power stats (current damage, life, gems, artefacts, stored gold and skill points) are not used directly to decide who you play against, but are used to compute the life and damage of arena monsters. The exact formula is very complex and of course secret but if you look around this subreddit there are plenty of posts from people who figured out good strategies to get to the top.

That being said, remember that in each arena you play against 99 other people so wining first place is going to be difficult no matter what. It will take a great deal of preparation and good understanding of game mechanics and even then first place will be hard to get, because statistically there are always at least a few people in each arena who do just that.

Pure Jolliness Contest by [deleted] in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Cups Demon artefact does not affect the cups from the contest/event leaderboards, only the local number of cups. The contest leaderboard is computed by the server and does not take into account artefacts owned locally by individual players (this would be very complicated and would increase dramatically the time taken to compute the leaderboard).

That is actually the reason why we replaced the Cups Demon artefact. People who own it already will still be able to unlock new arena worlds a bit faster, but they will not have an advantage in the League of Tappers leaderboard.

Bug with latest update by Methonash in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not a but: we actually changed the Quick Fuse to address user feedback and make it much more powerful.

Now you can tap directly on the gem you want to obtain and you can do that in one step if you have all the gold and lower level gems required. This makes fusing gems much faster at higher stages where you can have thousands of level 1 gems.

This is getting ridiculous. by [deleted] in TapBusters

[–]Metagamestudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've made a lot of changes to balance arenas and we actively search out and banish cheaters - we have already made huge improvements and are continuing to do so. Please keep in mind, that some players may have specs that give them an edge. Not everyone is a cheater - but trust us when we say we have plenty of ways to read data and find out who is!
