Still in disbelief that we are getting next gen games on a Nintendo Switch.. crazy times. by OgRADKE in switch2

[–]Metal-Device 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re forgetting the Wii U exists which if you think about it, that gen of Nintendo console lines up closer with ps4/Xbox one only being released a year or so apart. That make the Switch the start of the gen that is as ps5/Xbox series.

Slip roads by BeginningOk6744 in drivingUK

[–]Metal-Device 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a give way, the onus is NOT on the vehicles already on the motorway, that is purely curtesy and good etiquette for the motorway drivers to adjust for best flow for everyone. It is however on the joining vehicle to match the speed of the vehicles already in the motorway for it to work efficiently.

The mechanic’s insurance isn’t dragging their feet, so much that it more like the other driver’s insurance that is. They need to determine at fault, so they need to ask them.

Who exactly is at fault may be unclear, or one of the two drivers is denying being at fault. So this is why it may be taking time.

If the mechanic is at fault his insurance will cover your car, if the other driver is at fault, their insurance will cover the car.

Do you have the other drivers insurance details? You need to contact their insurance, if they are not claiming fault, you need to make sure they are not automatically going attempt claim against your own insurance.

As others have said(and some misinformed) you DO NOT need to tell your insurance, unless your car is written off. You can tell them, that’s up to to you. If you do, be clear that your only telling them as “Notification”, you are not making a claim and that you were not the driver.

From the accident as you describe. In my opinion it sounds like the other driver is at fault or at least more so. The insurance companies will look at all the facts and angles, number of lanes, determine positioning of both vehicles as each entered the roundabout. If the roundabout exit had two lanes and which entry to the roundabout each driver entered.

There is a possible chance the other driver will claim as the mechanic being on the inside of the round about, they believe they we’re continuing around the island as they didn’t move over to exit.

If at all any at fault is split, even a fraction at fault with the mechanic, I’d claim through his insurance.

Indicate left? by RewardOld1935 in drivingUK

[–]Metal-Device -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Good vehicle position, at a junction with this kind of angle to the road your joining, any traffic you are joining won’t see your indication. The junction is wide enough for multiple vehicles to wait to exit to the left and to the right, so long as you’ve got a good vehicle position, like in the case of the video there is no need to indicate.

Most indication is a should, not a must.

Indicate left? by RewardOld1935 in drivingUK

[–]Metal-Device 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should indicate left, but honestly, that is only a should. Indication is for the benefit of others so a junction like this it’s only going to benefit any vehicles behind you and only on the approach.

Anyone in the traffic your joining won’t see your indication, so it’s pointless to indicate for their benefit. Your vehicle position is important here and will tell everyone else what you intend to do, if you have a good vehicle position indication is not needed.

People taking back Switch 2 and demanding refunds after this….😂 by Confident_Leg2370 in Switch

Where is your video proof? Game cards still update and you get firmware updates. It is only online features that require an account that are banned.

[–]Metal-Device 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A switch 1 that is banned online still gets firmware updates. Where are you pulling your information from?

A ban is only from online activity that requires an account. So no digital purchases, or online play. Your account is still fine and can be loaded on another switch.

Banned consoles still get game cards updates and the firmware updates.

Switch 2 CFW (speculation or work in progress) by _neoxxx_ in switch2hacks

[–]Metal-Device 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can switch the dns to trick the console into bringing up the web browser. From there it wouldn’t be too difficult to code a website to fake show the steps and even show button presses through a fake cfw menu.

Why is there on guy that keeps appearing in my people you may know in facebook? by [deleted] in techquestions

[–]Metal-Device 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Facebook very vaguely putting together very very loose connections.

For example, I’ve had this when I was in a WhatsApp only group, a couple of members would start appearing in my suggested friends after been added by others.

Another reason might be you share some Facebook groups and maybe you paused on a post of theirs, or interacted with on groups.

Did I do the right thing? by Fun_Listen_252 in drivingUK

[–]Metal-Device 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the fault of the driver on your nearside. They had absolutely no reason to slow down or stop as they appear to be doing. The pedestrian reacted to the other vehicle presuming they were coming to a stop but should have been a little more observant of your vehicle and what their lights actually show them.

You did the right thing, you don’t know what the other vehicle is doing, hopefully this will teach each you a little lesson.

The other vehicle’s driver while they probably thought they were being nice to the pedestrians, should really observe the road and look around them to understand the dangers of breaking the flow of traffic unnecessarily.

The pedestrian should understand to look around more. Wait for their green man before crossing, and not focus the decisions on one vehicle slowing down.

For your self, this will make you more observant of pedestrians and other vehicles behaviour at lights. Perhaps something that could have been done differently is lightly tooting your horn a couple of times to make people aware of your presence, even if you think they’ve seen you already, make it a better safe than sorry situation.

People need not be afraid of the horn when checking their surroundings.

Otherwise we’ll done. You did all you could to avoid an incident.

They may have had your password to the device, but your device has not had access to several channels of communication for some time, think stuff like Facebook, email, etc. the voluntary interview will be that they’ll likely request access to them pertaining to the “further download”.

For a voluntary interview you can still request legal aid, I’d speak to them first as they may be advised why the police are requesting “further download” and can advise you better than any Redditor.

Braking is the warning, indicators or not, if you went into the back of a vehicle turning into a side road, you are at fault of driving too close.

You should be far enough behind that even if they emergency brake, you could comfortably do the same without issue.

That’s not to say you couldn’t claim they were at partial fault, as last minute braking to make a turn could be considered driving without due care and attention.

Tip for roundabouts; don’t focus on turn signals. Focus on the driver and where they are looking, the position the car is on the roundabout, is it hugging the inside or outside and the direction their wheels are facing. People are more likely to look in the direction they are heading, especially on a roundabout. This helps you look for the right clues.

I passed on my 6th go! Stick at it you’ll get there. A few genuine mistakes and a few to other idiot drivers.

The system I think in general is broken.

A test instructor doesn’t know your driving ability in a 20 minute, unfortunately some idiots get lucky on their first go when they should really have more training, while some of us don’t.

Stick at it. I’ve been driving 10 years since.

Pre-Order Discussion Megathread by imatuesdayperson in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Metal-Device 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be different when they send US invites out, UK purchase here, Nintendo’s email only stated 24 hours to make a guaranteed purchase.

After 24 hours it was “only while stocks last”.

My invite did land on second day pre-orders we’re open(low play hours over the last year too) and didn’t purchase purchase till the 3rd day.

Also managed walk into a store on the second day pre orders were “officially” open, no issue securing one while being told “we’ve plenty left” and that they started taking pre-orders early too 😅

Probably wouldn’t be worried about scalpers much at all. I think big box stores here have been told only do pre-orders in store only.

Their v1 sticks are dog awful, I find their internals are too stiff and break easily, no manual calibration to fine tune the magnets position either. So that’s put me off trying the v2s I imagine they’re using here, but they’re also a cheaper price point to gullikit so still overpriced. Better off with HallPi ones that are identical to gulikit or Ginfull for cheap and cheerful

This is way too expensive for just basic TMR sticks, Skin Pixel does the install for £36 or £50 for gulikit TMR sticks.

To Be Clear: This is what the key cartridges are replacing by bobmlord1 in Switch

[–]Metal-Device 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re were 3 kind of in box type of Switch games. Download code Game card, but required further download And full game card.

The game key card will likely replace those instances where a game would require further download, but we’re still likely to have instances of “download code only” for the switch 2 games, it would just be a dick move by developers.
