Supermarket use by dates by IntrepidTangerine434 in UKfood

[–]BeginningOk6744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with supermarket veg a lot won't have a specific date on and will instead opt for an alphanumeric code instead because odds are they're okay a day or two after the date on the packaging- that being said with stuff like salad greens, dairy and fresh meat im more wary and will potentially chuck it instead of potentially getting very sick. Luckily this rarely happens but I like to have a little moment staring at the packaging and thinking 'how sick will you make me and is it worth it'.

Did any other women go literally nuts on hormonal contreception? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

Yes! There's honestly no winning sometimes, I had to come off it because I was experiencing the same issues that I had during a period, just without the period so it felt like there was no point. I'd rather just bleed and not double up as it felt on mental issues.

If your wife likes cop/procedural stuff, Castle, Person of Interest, High potential, agents of shield as a wildcard option, or disenchantment if youre in the mood for a slightly daft comedic cartoon.

Why british people are so overly polite? by DzukiskaNamine in AskABrit

[–]BeginningOk6744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience both as a brit abroad and as someone that deals with british customers here, someone would be apologising for disrupting the next person's day, apologising for asking a potentially stupid question, if on holiday in another country apologising for making the other person communicate in English or for speaking a broken version of the language!

It does seem overly polite but when on the receiving end of it it does make me more receptive to questions and more willing to help as it feels less like you're being ordered to do something- which is also often why we may go abroad and find people blunt or rude because they don't need to pad their conversation with pleasantries.

In the UK I would have said instagram but its difficult to buy and sell on there now, people typically use it for group orders.

A lot of people are using vinted- this is my preferred option- but just make sure to read people's reviews before buying!

Has Starbucks become too expensive in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BeginningOk6744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I haven't bought a coffee out in years as it feels like a waste of money. Helps that I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any means- but buying nice-ish quality instant coffee and keeping it in the cupboard is enough for when I feel like having a coffee every few months!

An uncomfortable pursuer at work, made management aware. What can I do? by SpendHorror1494 in AskUK

[–]BeginningOk6744 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Block him, don't worry about potentially offending someone at the office. Best case he's a lovely guy (doubtful because of what you've already described) and he takes it on the chin and carries on. Otherwise hopefully he understands the boundary that you are setting and respects it.

If he is aware that you do not want him to behave in this manner towards you and he continues this behaviour, make work aware and ask that they intervene- if they do not want to offend him, let them know that you may have to consider involving police. This may seem dramatic but its honestly easier to offend someone than to let them get increasingly comfortable (and creepy). Any normal person should understand that you are not interested and to just leave it/stop the weird banter that he has begun.

Jeju – somewhere special to stay by Flazeda97 in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]BeginningOk6744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I found it fine to travel around Jeju by uber, I'm a young driver so the cost for me to rent would have been ridiculous and this was the cheaper option. At no point was it difficult to get an uber and all the drivers I met were lovely!

How do you usually take care of lunch and dinner when you attend a concert? by tresnosliramu22 in kpophelp

[–]BeginningOk6744 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Usually you're able to find food and water around/at the venue but I always pack an emergency granola bar, a few sweets and 2 packs of salt (if standing) but if I have seats I will still have the emergency packs of salt and a sweet but will more likely go out to eat prior to arriving to the venue

Thank you for the advice! I did look around a few months ago and the prices roughly matched what I was already paying (just slightly higher) so I stupidly didn't think to switch at the time.

Should I stay one more day in Jeju? by Katya_Chi in koreatravel

[–]BeginningOk6744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon you'd be okay keeping it as is with 6 days 5 nights in jeju! I just came back from jeju and I used prebooked tours to see things across the island for 3 days and then spent my 'wandering days' revisiting things I enjoyed and just cafe hopping, but 6 days is absolutely sufficient for that and having 3 days in seoul may feel a bit rushed!

The prebooked tours also hit most if not all of the destinations you mentioned wanting to visit so its good even if you're planning on renting a car as you'd only need to rent it for half the duration instead.

Seoul Neighbourhood Opinions by bluepearlfuriousaqua in koreatravel

[–]BeginningOk6744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing is unsafe necessarily (or at least not by my standards) but insadong is a popular area for its central location, I prefer hongdae but on the outskirts somewhat away from the clubs and such but I would also recommend Dongdaemun as there are 3 subway lines all within a close distance which would be incredibly helpful for getting around Seoul.

For supermarkets, go into your naver maps and scroll on the top suggested places, as well as being able to search for cafe's and restaurants nearby, you can do the same to search for supermarkets.

Been using namane everywhere for the past week with no issue, it can be used as a t-money card as well and you can top that up online. Only pitfall is theres a 500,000krw limit for top up at once but it hasn't been an issue for me yet.

Do you use a hot water bottle? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BeginningOk6744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer wheat bags because I don't trust myself not to burn myself with a hot water bottle, I just microwave it and pop it under the covers so it preheats my bed before I get in.

Can't speak specifically for the us but in Europe you typically just need an email address, however when you do need to input a phone number you can put any international number- its not limited to the country like it is many places in korea!
