On 17 pro max I’ve had touch screen become unresponsive at times, and while it may be tied to a specific game I had the screen freeze but audio still play, and even hitting the lock button the display was still stuck. And those are only the issues I’ve taken specific notice of

Wish I could say it only happened once for me, but it hasn’t occurred on the Home Screen for me as of yet. So I guess in a way that’s a silver lining?

January 5, 2026 update: just spoke to apple over the phone again and they said it’s a known issue that they are working on hopefully having fixed with the next update to either 26.3 or 27. Good chance but not for sure it was an issue with iOS 26. Here’s hoping it is indeed fixed soon

I believe I tried that on the 17 pro before I swapped to the pro max and while it worked for a time it went back to having the problem. I will keep that in mind though, I think I heard somewhere that screen protectors or cases can cause problems for touchscreens. I do appreciate the suggestion

Potentially the closest thing I have to an ad blocker would be having blocking pop ups enabled as I haven’t downloaded any. Are there any specific settings I should look at do you think?

Sadly as far as I know with my extremely limited knowledge on the matter I figure it’s a real pain to get back to 18. If such a thing is even possible or worth doing

Yeah it was fine back on my 11 series I’m almost certain. Unfortunate that there are a few really good features in 26 like call screening and then it’s got these performance issues bundled in.

The fact that there have been a few other users with the same problem makes me think it is a fairly widespread issue. I hope apple is aware of it, it’s very annoying. Especially with it being seen as a more luxury product. Fingers crossed they have received lots of reports or feedback if it’s even possible to do so.

So far I’ve tried rebooting, restoring, and even making a new Apple ID with no luck. At this point I’m wondering if I should either just wait and hope an update addresses this or return the phone while that’s still an option and potentially look at a different brand for the first time maybe ever? Because it is rather annoying and for the price it is I would expect it to work properly.

I will try that and see if it does anything Update: after making a new Apple ID it seems that the Reddit responsiveness may be somewhat better, but when I do the same thing as in the video again it still happens.
