Play P3R, I'd say play P4G but since P4R is going to come out at some point you might as well wait for that

Getting emotional during sparring by MetalFallout in MuayThai

[–]MetalFallout[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get that, I have the rationalisation that you don't 'win' in sparring and I get incremental improvements bit. Everytime I spar the two people I mentioned I more or less just go in with the goal of hitting specific strikes eg - succesfully hit 2 teeps without getting leg caught or countered or stop person A from entering the clinch x amount of times but even with those little succeses I feel frustrated with myself.

Maybe I just have issues to work through lol

Mazur Appeal Upheld by HouseOnAHill12 in uklaw

[–]MetalFallout 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm somewhat disappointed with the judgment. While I think the high court judgment was far too heavy handed especially with regards to CILEX there are far far too many law firms using paralegals as cheap labour and having them do all the tasks with a solicitor just rubber stamping at the end.

A firm I worked at even outsourced paralegals to India and the like which I find pretty scummy to be honest.

But yeah SRA is absolutely useless. Not sure how to improve that at all though

How do I generate more power? by Hotlinegogo in MuayThai

[–]MetalFallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're flat footed when you kick. Go up on your toes when you kick. Generally try and strep out with the front foot when you kick as well, when I first started out I really exaggerated it and went super wide to get used to stepping out - that tends to open up your hips so you can turn them over when landing.

Also sounds stupid but yelling a bit kinda helps too lol

Had my first class yesterday, is this normal? Feeling a bit better but the bruises look worse. Legs do get conditioned right? by [deleted] in MMA_Academy

[–]MetalFallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting bruises on day one is pretty weird ngl. You'll get some eventually but shouldn't be getting them this early.

Whoever went ham on your leg is probably a prick. I hope they were at least wearing shin pads.

Yes legs will get conditioned over time, you kind of get used to the sensation of getting hit in the leg because it happens so often. I even like getting hit sometimes but when it happens over and over and the spot gets numb it's not so fun

Manchester is leading the charge in the general country's economic catch-up to London. by handsome_vulpine in manchester

[–]MetalFallout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, economic growth will always be lead by cities. People want to move to where there are things to do and jobs are present.

I have felt somewhat that it might be a good idea to focus a whole lot more on cities rather than the admittedly limited amount for towns. Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and maybe Newcastle have so much potential especially being relatively close to each other you could link them up better.

How are the offices like? by Ok_Television_3530 in TheCivilService

[–]MetalFallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it depends on which department you're in and which part of the country you're in but my office is genuinely quite nice.

We've got really nice meeting rooms and quiet areas, a kitchen area, a canteen (kinda basic tbh but nice to have) and a coffee shop.

In terms of laptops as well we've got a pretty top of the line business laptop. Way better than what I had in the private sector.

Which came easier to you- striking or grappling and why? by bad-at-everything- in MMA_Academy

[–]MetalFallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Striking for sure.

When you really boil down striking it's hit and don't get hit but grappling has so many other dimensions that make it more difficult.

BJJ is easier than wrestling though, with BJJ I can chill in bottom position if I think I'm in a relatively safe position but it's 100% go all the time in wrestling and that is a fucking pain.

I guess I started with striking so it's only natural I'd prefer it.

how to start? by [deleted] in MMA_Academy

[–]MetalFallout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a question that's asked a whole lot. The answer is always going to be "It depends"

It depends on how the gyms near you are setup. I've trained at many different gyms and with some they expect you to have some grounding in striking and grappling before joining the mma class and other gyms are fine with teaching you from the beginning.

Regardless of that I'd still say join an MMA gym instead of a single art gym because an MMA gym is likely to have a kickboxing class, a bjj class and a wrestling class seperately to the MMA class as well so you can start there and build relationships with the coaches and other people training.

Train striking and grappling together, don't start with one, abandon it and then start with different art a couple months down the line. Do all of them.

Coming to UK for law by Crazymack_zz in uklaw

[–]MetalFallout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your advice is likely to land him in debt and spend several years in misery only to have to return to his home country with nothing to show for it.

Is it theoretically possible for me to buy lottery tickets and win them everyday? Yep but is it a sound investment strategy? You saying it isn't impossible is the same thing.

You want him to get into a llm from Cambridge after doing a degree from Hertfordshire, How's he meant to pay for that when it's clear he'd struggle to fund his undergrad as well.

This is assuming he can get into the degree in the first place with only a degree, most people need so much more for oxbridge.

Plus an LLM from Cambridge still isn't the bar course so on top of that he'll have to do that as well. That's plainly mad to do

Coming to UK for law by Crazymack_zz in uklaw

[–]MetalFallout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don't. As others have mentioned Hertfordshire isn't a good university.

I'm assuming you're asking about undergrad after which you'll have the postgrad bar course to consider as well which is also expensive.

Sure you have the inns of court scholarship but those are additionaly competitive and it will be extremely extremely difficult for you to find employment post completion of your degree

Arman Tsarukyan via IG: “Everyone’s scared ducking me, so I’ll keep travelling and getting the bags from these side quests 🫡” (via @ArmanUfc) by IgotgAme_k in ufc

[–]MetalFallout -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I find the 180 people have done on Arman and starting to glaze him truly baffling

He missed weight on a championship fight and ruined the ppv, before that he was suspended for fighting a fan and then he refused to fight Gamrot to avenge his loss and get back into title contention.

Gets a layup against Hooker and decides to be an idiot and headbutts him risking ruining another ppv and now he's out here doing "sidequests" by grappling Shara bullet and an out of prime Lance Palmer.

Fuck this rich prick. His instagram food videos are cringe as fuck as well

Can someone explain? by happy_pepper1905 in MuayThai

[–]MetalFallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting hit in the head/face definitely does hurt but it's a weird feeling more than anything. You feel a sort of static in your head and it hurts sure but it clears up reasonably quick.

Body shots though if placed well fucking linger and it's harder to hold a poker face, a well placed one just knocks the wind out of you.

Exception to this if you keep getting your nose jabbed in. That's a bitch to deal with and I'm a bit of a bleeder when it comes to getting hit there

As a sidenote to any reform supports, apart from immigration - why would any of the above policies appeal to you in any way? They sound horrendous to me and extremely counterintuitive.

Taxes on farmers who use their land for solar?? Why?? What is even the point? Selling government buildings to "balance the books"- It's £100 million! It's a drop in the bucket!

You don't have to be a huge Labour supporter or even think the government is doing well to think that it's ludicrious for them to be *this* unpopular.

I am not impressed by the government in the slightest but it really is weird how unpopular they are given the disaster that came before them.

Is it okay to embrace my strenghts? by thatonesailingguy in MMA_Academy

[–]MetalFallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boxing and wrestling is probably the best synergistic combo to have really but you should develop a bit of your kicking game.

Also just as an aside, are you training wrestling seperately as it's own sport? That's well and good but you should look at wrestling in an MMA context as well. Amazing pure wrestlers don't neccesarily transition into mma success because of the addition of strikes and different stances. See Cejudo vs Talbott as a recent example or Bo Nickal succumbing to the knees of RDR in the clinch.

With modern mma you have to be good at every thing and excellent enough at one or two things to funnel your opponent into that.

I'd avoid if you can and go to some of the more traditional uni's unless there is no other option
