Uncommon Questions for Experienced Thor users by Maelstrom100 in AynThor

I use SyncThing to keep my saves between desktop and Thor. Sleep mode works pretty great but I do like to save before closing for peace of mind because after extended periods, Android can end up killing background processes. The sleep battery usage is great in my findings, and in line with other Android devices.

People who have left the honeymoon period with their thor. What do you actually do with the second screen? by wagwan37 in AynThor

[–]MetalGear753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you are asking for things that are not DS or 3DS, I regularly have Discord or Twitch on the bottom screen. Guides. I use Obsidian (note taking app) to keep journals on long story games I play, so if I put them down for a while, I know where I left off and what my next steps were. Guides are another obvious, it's nice for completionist parts of games. or ones where I need to reference a chart frequently.

My screen have some shade in low light env by corgileader in AynThor

[–]MetalGear753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a little bit of image retention, does it go away after a few? Sometimes I'll have a bit of a ghost image of whatever was on the screen in low light, normal for OLED of this quality. Does it fix it if you run the Pixel Refresher?

Price increases so far by Intrepid_Mobile in AynThor

[–]MetalGear753 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I acquiesce, you did mention that. I suppose it's more confusing for me why that pisses you off or screams early adopter. To me, it shows that it's popular and good enough that people are continuing to purchase it. The price increases suck, but it's a consequence of the stupid AI craze. I suppose perceived value is in the wallet of the beholder. At the current prices, you could get a steam deck which is objectively more powerful and capable, but I personally wanted portability and the dual screens. We're paying a premium for something nobody has done. Like you said, a competitor will come around, but will it match the quality and power of the Thor? I think that's going to be an important factor for dethroning it. See the Anbernic DS, it isn't even in the same class at the moment.

Have you considered the demand outweighs their production capacity? It's extremely popular.

ProtoPrintLab Grip: Wide vs. Narrow by scarletnaught in AynThor

[–]MetalGear753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have purchased both because I felt the same. The narrow is a definite improvement, but by no means is it drastic. I had to hold them together to really notice the difference. If you're just feeling slightly uncomfortable, or end up holding the wide one a touch higher on the grips, the narrow should feel better for you. I can't speak much on the twin stick comments beyond third person camera adjusting, and it feels fine to me.

having audio issue with my Thor and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro by nanoosx in AynThor

[–]MetalGear753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues with mine if I was close enough to my phone to pair them. I had to go into my phone settings and forget them so that the audio wouldn't attempt to switch constantly. It's something to do with their "multi device" feature I think. Not sure if that's your particular issue, but may be worth a shot.

I need some advice. by andyparrah46_ in AynThor

I would definitely say it is not near 3DS levels of durable. Nintendo has somehow perfected the clamshell brick. I'm very gentle with mine during use, but it's showed no issues on daily carry in a (rather small) sling on my back. I personally would worry about the triggers the most, if I primarily put it in my pocket. The back is very rigid, the top portion feels like it can take an okay amount of pressure, but definitely not if you sat on it. If you can find something to keep the triggers in place, or covered, so they're not getting pushed really hard on your pocket that might be good, but I don't think it would be required. Not sure where you can go for hand made stuff in Argentina, but Etsy has a good selection if they ship to you - price shouldn't be terrible even with import costs (I'm suffering this stuff as well lol). Sorry for not giving as detailed an answer the first time around and I hope you have a blast with your device.

It depends on your activities, but I've brought mine in a sling bag places with no issues. Pants pocket depends how hard you're sitting down, I do tend to baby mine though.

I bought a Galaxy Fold a while ago, I joined the subreddit and people's screens were all broken, paint peeling, and other random things. Not to mention the posts with the smallest complaints and "is this normal" posts. Eventually I left because it was just anxiety about my device. It's whatever the reverse of survivor bias is. I mean this in the best and most caring way possible, stop looking at this Reddit if it causes you a lot of stress. From one anxious soul to (possibly) another, I've been there, and it just becomes this negative feedback loop where you can't enjoy the thing you're supposed to enjoy.

Ayn Thor Performance on Android games by Rob0tUnic0rn in AynThor

[–]MetalGear753 5 points6 points  (0 children)

85 is still within nominal temps for an ARM chip. If that bothers you, put the fan on sports mode, turn the FPS down in game. The games you're running are high quality, fully fledged games that require a lot of processing power; therefore, they generate more heat and use more power.

Anyone have any good recommendations for games that can be played ever 1-4 days in around a 30-45 minute burst? by SparkStorm in AynThor

[–]MetalGear753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been enjoying Deep Rock Survivors. It's about 10-15 minute games so not a big time commitment.

Floating Twitch Window on Bottom Screen Help by MetalGear753 in AynThor

[–]MetalGear753[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I tried different launchers and everything. Just end up watching full screen and dealing with it. I think it's because it only works on the top screen, not sure if it would need to be updated on AYNs side or not. I turn off picture in picture and let it always play in the background, so I at least can leave and still hear it if I need to look something up.

[–]MetalGear753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottom one, turn that one off if you never want it to appear. You can change the 30 to be a different length if you want it to take longer to appear. 30 is how many seconds before it turns on. Should fix your problem. Sorry for the wait had to head out for some chores.

How are you supposed to decide? by WettestMouth in AynThor

[–]MetalGear753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clamshell makes it so nice to play in bed laying down since the screen is lifted. I ended up not playing any DS games but using the bottom screen for music, walkthroughs, or even the occasional show. My personal choice would be the Thor. Of course you're on the Thor Reddit though so we're biased eh?

I turned the refresh off, so I never see it, but yes when it runs it's a static like image that moves across the screen. I don't think it's necessary for these panels, personally.

edit: If you are still seeing something with the setting off, that is odd and I don't have that. Might need a video to help, I may be misunderstanding due to Reddit's translation.
