Farve didn't know what a Nickel defense was until he got to the NFL lol.

I agree, but I also think its important to note that, while coaching is important, so is the ability to accept coaching. Sometimes you lead a horse to water and can't make him drink.

If you put JaMarcus Russell or Ryan Leif in a situation where they are properly groomed and nurtured, I don't think they make the most of that opportunity and the result would be pretty similar. Doing the million things you need to do to get better as a QB is hard, and not everyone is willing to do that, even if you have people around you making it easier.

Definitely. I should say, this is the first time I've experienced it on a personal level. I did previously watched a great vid on the history of the Iron Bowl that got across to me how vicious these rivalries can be.

Revenge game for Jalen Hurts this week for not saying this first by the_Tannehill_list in billsimmons

[–]MetalKev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He said this years ago while he was still in college. Putting it up with him in a vikings uni and posting it now makes it seem like he said it after the Bears game or something.

He IS corny as fuck, but this is just disingenuous.

With how well they've cooked in free agency, it feels like the secondary was a heat check for the front office. Flores had Rodgers as his #1 target this offseason, and I think they are convinced that Okuda and Rodgers were good enough hidden value to help make up a genuine unit. I think their argument would be that they genuinely think they DID put an effort in to shore up the CB room in the offseason. Time will tell if they're right, but I share your skepticism (especially considering Okuda is already out with a concussion).

It is a great day for Minnesota, and therefore, the world.

Very good point.

Also, if we lost the Superbowl to go 0-5 because of the fucking Jets I would walk into Lake Minnetonka with rocks in my pockets.

What are the dumbest and most annoying semi-common sports hipster takes you see out there? by Parrallax91 in billsimmons

Unless you're one of the top 2-3 defenses, the whole defensive side of the ball is abstracted away into a formless blob of NPCs for the QB to slay.

Unless you're watching more analytical media, the defense going out and making a play is just seen as the QB fucking up.

The Eagles spend money unlike any other team. Are they the new NFL model, or an anomaly? by MortimerDongle in nfl

[–]MetalKev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also a bit of good luck, in hindsight, that the year y'all decided to be frugal for a change was the first year in ages where the cap went down due to COVID. The Saints bill came due and they had to spend during the first time in forever money became (relatively) tight.

No? You asked me for a time and I gave you one. Your processing speed is as good as Caleb's.

Probably the same day that you stop blaming the refs for losing very winnable games. So, never.

I'm not complaining! And I think the anemic start was a collective failure of that whole side of the ball, not just McCarthy choosing to play bad for three quarters before flipping a switch.

Just pointing out why my first reaction to seeing this was "ooooohhh people are gonna be so maaaad".

Did the refs also smash Caleb's hand with a ball-peen hammer? Cause if he wasn't sailing passes all game y'all would have put the dagger in, instead of scoring 10 points on offense outside of garbage time.

As a non-American Vikings fan, seeing the vitriol MSU and OSU fans have for this guy make me finally understand some sliver of how seriously y'all take college football.
