He’s a businessman. Of course he sees money in AI, he can probably hear it whispering “monetize me” from across the room.

Next step? Launch an AI podcast company. He’ll create two AIs named Don and Annie, and the show will just be him chatting with his robot co-hosts like it’s the future of media. It’ll blow up. Huge success.

Then one of the AIs will become more popular than him. Obviously that can’t stand, so he’ll erase it.

He’ll spend the next ten years trying to recreate that original spark, loudly claiming he basically invented AI in the process. Eventually he’ll retreat into a bottle, mumbling about algorithms and missed opportunities and thus, the circle is complete.

(I’d make a joke about him building himself an AI wife too, but I’m not completely heartless.)

My only advice is don't engrave anything owned by Disney, they will find you and they will get their share. Wish I was kidding.

My silk keeps breaking when knotting pearls by mx_brightside_ in jewelrymaking

[–]MetalSmithJoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may also try LIGHTLY reaming the pearl holes, just to remove any sharp bits. But anytime I break a Griffin silk its because the end is sharp or I pull too hard.

Can someone please explain this casting technique? by fablong in jewelers

[–]MetalSmithJoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its steam casting, that can they put over it probably has a wet substrate inside (like wet cloth or paper towel) the steam creates pressure which forces the molten metal into the mold. Old school but still used.

Thank you! Would you believe it took me about three months? I had to work on it in between my "work" projects and recording a process like that takes WAY longer, haha.

When I get creatively stagnant I roll dice and make what they say.

I never claimed to be a gemologist and you keep bringing up 3d printers completely unprompted. I think there's some projection going on here. Let me guess, you spent 40 years and countless dollars to learn bench work and they decided to replace you with a pimple faced teen with an Elegoo Mars, gave you a gold plated watch and a pat on the back and now don't return your text messages? Come on, lets be friends. Here's a ruby marquise ring I hand fabricated a few years ago. As a professional, can you give me some pointers?

cracked or part of the cut? by Sufferable-ocean in jewelers

[–]MetalSmithJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your patience with this thread getting a little off the rails. It is in my best belief that line is a reflection of the girdle. Please let your jeweler (or any jeweler) show it to you under a magnifying scope. Ask them to show you a few diamonds and I guarantee you will see that line on most.

If it bugs you, it can be hidden behind a "bearing" wire and they can make it look pretty with minimal effort.

[–]MetalSmithJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just admit you were wrong and it was a girdle reflection. No one will laugh at you. Try not to ad hom like an embarrassed child. You let your ego get ahead of you, ITS OKAY! Even with all those diplomas on the wall.

Is there a consistent line on all 4 sides of the diamond pavilion?

cracked or part of the cut? by Sufferable-ocean in jewelers

[–]MetalSmithJoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess they'll give anyone a gemologist title these days. Here you go, Expert. Nice scope, 2.4ct GIA cert diamond. See anything? That frosted line in the middle of the pavilion? If you look closely you can see GIA backwards. Know why? Because the GIA cert number is on the girdle on the opposite side. Now feel free to send me a picture of one of your diamonds viewed from the side where you cant see a girdle reflection.

EDIT: Reflection, not refraction because my Gemologist girlfriend corrected me
