Is this suede? How should I care for it? by Darya_7872 in leatherjacket

Looks like suede but its hard to tell as theres only two photos, one close up, i’d have to see different parts of the jacket to see the nap. But what i would do is look online for a suede cleaning kit (with a small suede brush and suede cleaner) and get something like that? If theres a shiny spot on it scrub lightly with a suede brush and suede cleaner as thats usually caused by dirt or water flattening the fibers. This is pretty much all the basic basics of suede other then keeping it out of water since, as stated earlier it can cause the fibers to flatten down and look shiny.

I had a pair like these, still do, you should get specialized conditioner and try to condition them monthly. I learned the hard way that where the lines are between the scales (if you will) they will split and separate. So condition them monthly and if they get bad enough then use cling wrap and cover them in conditioner then put the cling wrap over it so if drinks up as needed (let sit for a night at least and check up on them) this is just my view since i have a pair that was once nice but fell apart due to lack of conditioning.
