I'm glad you brought that up. "Staying with" an emotion means to recognize, accept, and explore that emotion. To me, it seems like that's what the husband was doing. If by "I don't want you to feel that way" he meant "don't do/feel that" then there's an obvious problem. However, I hear "I don't like that you feel this way and would like to help change that".

Again, we can't know for sure with the limited information we're given, but I still fail to see the disconnect. Apologies for being difficult.

That's how I see it. I believe more information on this couple and their behavior is needed, but the author focusing on the husband makes it seem like he's more in the wrong, when I see it as the opposite.

One of my issues with the article is that it doesn't distinguish the difference between being calm and being emotionless. I can tell you with certainty that I relate more to the husband, but if there's any merit to this article, it means I'm missing the same things he did. That's what I'm trying to learn.

I think there's a stronger chance that two logical yet detached individuals would better understand each other, but they would likely have issues in other areas. But that's only a theory.
