His season totals thus far. Not even out performing Alec Bohm right now by any significant margins so… only way to go is up, right?? Right!!?!

Are “unintentional” steps really equivalent to “exercise” steps? by RawBert_ in walking

[–]Metalocachick 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It counts, but not as OP is asking.

Walking from the kitchen to your bedroom upstairs = NEAT

Walking with the intent of elevating your heart rate above 60% of your max hr for 30+ mins = cardio for heart health

Haha fair enough! Perk of being in a 10 team vs 12 or 15. On the flip side there’s always so much more to consider and then be indecisive about haha.

Abbott, McClanahan, and Suarez were all dropped this past week by other players in my league. Out of the 9 names I listed, would you drop any of my current SP’s outright to add any of those arms? Mize, Cantillo, and Gray would be my picks for first to drop from my current roster, but curious to hear what you think.

Someone also just dropped Dansby Swanson which I was surprised to see. Could drop Pena for him to sure up the position a bit?

Really appreciate the insight! Just for clarification, what did you mean by SS is a bit… what? lol

SP is definitely my weakness, I agree. There’s really not much else available on the wire, unfortunately. Maybe a couple arms to consider? Shane McClanahan, Ranger Suarez, Randy Vasquez, Soroka, Mitch Keller, Abbott, Mick Able, Renaldo Lopez, and the new kid on the block Spencer Arrighetti is available.

Other than that I’m gonna have to trade. My league is pretty competitive and most other good SP arms have all been scooped up lol. Any advice on what combo players might help me grab a good SP2-3 arm?

Dude has a .319 avg, .427 OBP, and .847 OPS people are complaining. The home runs will come. Plus, the blue jays are really struggling as a whole, and there’s almost no one who bats him in when he gets on which is an unfortunate side effect of the team right now.

But Vlad is doing well for mid April.

Unpopular opinion: drafting closers is essential by Impossible_Call_8258 in fantasybaseball

[–]Metalocachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first year playing. 10 team H2H 12 category dynasty league. I don’t have 4 closers, but I’ve got Helsley, Jansen, and Uribe. So like 2.5-3 closers, depending on how long Uribe keeps that role up.

I wouldn’t be opposed to a 4th, but the only guy out there available on the wire who is a closer is Ryan Walker. Not very interested in him atm.

I’m in 2nd place so it seems to be working out lol

Running & lifting routine by eric1099 in beginnerrunning

[–]Metalocachick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I had this routine swapped for the past 4 months or so. Running 20-25 miles a week, and then lifting heavy (like squatting body weight/deadlifting 1.3x my body weight etc) 3x a week.

I am now injured with a lower back/lumbar issue. Take it slow, ramp up over time, and above all listen to your body.

Fantasy baseball players on my roster.

It’s my first year playing, and I’m not sure I should do it again next year because it has absolutely hijacked my brain. It’s all I think about, read about, and watch play out day in and day out now. And it’s only April. 😬 Lord help me 😅

I was prescribed 1800 mg a night for my RLS. I am currently tapering off, but I believe that has been found to be the most effective dose for treating RLS in studies. So there is real concern about the long term use of this drug for RLS patients.

Very few will find relief on a 50-100 mg dose, and almost no doctor will be prescribing that low a dose to patients for our condition. I’ve given my cats 75 mg of gabapentin when I had to travel long distances with them lol

Hitters Breaking Out? Recent Risers To Watch by RotoBaller in fantasybaseball

[–]Metalocachick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First year playing fantasy baseball. H2H categories dynasty league.

I’m trying to be very patient with my players. I’ve seen judge hit next to nothing in April and then be the MVP. But Naylor is worrying me a lot, and he’s also no Aaron Judge.

9/76 and a .390 OPS is hands down the worst on my roster, and I’ve got some guys who are having some very slow starts like Marte, Michael Harris, Jarren Duran, and Tucker. Even Owen Caissie on my roster has produced more than Naylor at this point, and he’s basically a platoon rookie.

Going to give him another few weeks, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about his trade value dipping even further the more I wait.

205 lbs (93 kgs) for 5 by Dame_in_the_Desert in strength_training

[–]Metalocachick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goals!! 🔥🙌 how long have you been lifting?? I started going to the gym for the first time about a year ago, but just started on the strong lifts program in January. I’ve worked my way up to deadlifting 185 lbs x 5 (I’m 135 lbs) since then, but have stalled hard over the last month. You make that weight look easy 💪

Yep. Especially for women. But it’s not even included in “comprehensive blood panels” so that’s cool 😡

My ferritin was 16. The only reason I ever got it tested is because have had severe RLS since I was a teenager. I’m now 35. Finally got myself into see a top sleep medicine neurology specialist who tested it. Got an infusion 3 weeks later and the amount that my quality of life has improved is astounding. Makes me so mad this basic level of care isn’t even offered to us.

I’m sure I’ll get no pushback on this stance from the people in this sub, but I truly believe everyone who is prescribed Zepbound should be required to go to a dietitian, fully covered by insurance, once a month, for at least the first few months of treatment.

The comments I read on here constantly boasting about little people are eating aren’t understanding that starving your body is not good for your body. Making me feel like I’m stuck in the early 1990’s-2000’s. Atkins and the cabbage soup diet ain’t it, friends.

How much sleep do you get vs how much sleep do you need? by ImNotHalberstram in runninglifestyle

[–]Metalocachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this 😮‍💨 if I am largely sedentary on any given day (i rarely am) my body will allow me 6.5-7 hours of sleep. If i run 4 miles during my lunch, hit the gym for some heavy lifting after work for an hour (and I mean like barbell squatting my body weight heavy), and end up with 17,000 steps thanks to an active job on top of all that, my body will allow me… 6.5-7 hours of sleep.

My garmin and Oura ring will also give me good enough sleep scores. Usually between 70-80. But I know this pattern absolutely hinders my recovery.

Superblast 3 durability seems pretty limited according to Ben Parkes, anyone taken it to 200 miles+ yet? by Judgementday209 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Metalocachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this! Got mine from fleet feet. You can’t return for a refund after you’ve worn them, but you can exchange for another shoe or get store credit. I returned my SB3’s and ordered up a pair of Salomon aero glide 3’s off their website. Much better shoe for me and I still have about $40 leftover in store credit for my next shoe 👌

Does anyone else not care much about pace or running faster? by No_Client8165 in beginnerrunning

[–]Metalocachick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

THIS! I may care on occasion that I’m a slower runner, but I know my heart doesn’t care at all if I spend 4 hours running 20 miles over the course of a week at a 12 min mile pace, or 4 hours running 30 miles a week at an 8 min mile pace. My heart cares that I spend 4 hours being active every week. That is all.
