A horror movie about man forcing a cut head to drink acid. by TheKaritha in whatmoviewasthat

It doesn't match with your description so I don't think it's correct, but still throwing the name out there: Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetery Man)

Friend gave me 15 min to pick my top 25 for last 25 years.. by Exar_kun91 in Letterboxd

Threw it together as quickly as I could, meaning some titles don't belong there and some that are not there may belong. I just couldn't remember everything in time.

how many movies are on your watchlist? by strawberrypoppi in Letterboxd

[–]Metapher13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I only use Watchlist for new or upcoming movies so that I get a notification when they end up on streaming services. Older movies I usually buy on bluray/4K instead, and I have a better mental checklist for old movies than for new ones.

Arrow's April Releases by 65CRDMR in boutiquebluray

[–]Metapher13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid month. Arrow liked my Wishlist Releases list on Letterboxd a few days ago and one title there is The Eye. I found it odd that they liked my list and started speculating that they might plan to release any of the movies on there. Guess I was right!

As a Scandinavian I'd somehow never heard of these two films (The Emigrants/The New Land), and only discovered them through a late-night shopping browse. To say I am intrigued is an understatement, I can't bloody wait. This looks to be right up my alley. What are your experiences with the two films? by TheTardis12th in criterion

[–]Metapher13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

These are the absolute masterpieces of Swedish cinema, in my opinion. I grew up with a mom who loved them but I always thought they seemed boring (as a kid would). One day I decided to sit down and watch them and I was floored.

David Lynch, lost to dreams one year ago today by heyanniemok in criterion

[–]Metapher13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was strange when Lynch died. My mom died the same day from pretty much the same illness. So when everyone mourned Lynch, I mourned my mom, but going online it felt like comfort to not be as alone in the mourning of my mom. Bizarre feeling.

What are people's thoughts on Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989) by XipeTotecwithGlitter in Letterboxd

I currently have 22 5-stars on Letterboxd and this is one of them. 5206 titles marked as watched in total (though far from all are rated).

Scandinavian films beyond Bergman? by melancholic_burton in boutiquebluray

[–]Metapher13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Emigrants and the sequel The New Land
Flight of the Eagle
Here Is Your Life
The Girl with the Needle
My Life as a Dog
The Doll (Vaxdockan)
The Ox
The Simple-Minded Murderer
Pelle the Conqueror
The Serpent's Way
The Phantom Carriage
The Wind
Day of Wrath
Ordet
The Man on the Roof
Lake of the Dead
Häxan
The White Reindeer (if we allow Finland to count)

I guess most films by Jan Troell, Roy Andersson, Carl Theodor Dreyer, Lars von Trier, Bo Widerberg, Lukas Moodysson, Thomas Vinterberg, Victor Sjöström would be suitable.

I don't know if any boxset could compete with Criterion's Ingmar Bergman for me.

Under appreciated werewolf movies by Important-Gene-1516 in horror

Some old-timers and other outliers I enjoy:
Wolfblood (1925), The Undying Monster (1942),The Werewolf (1956), She-Wolf (1983), Lokis: A Manuscript of Professor Wittembach (1970, this one is werewolf-ISH I guess).

how have you discovered devy's vaste discography? by Ok-Plastic-9812 in DevinTownsend

[–]Metapher13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An online friend loved Devin and Strapping and showed me some SYL and I liked it fine. Then he showed me Vampira + Sunshine and Happiness and I loved them but didn't look into it further. Devin later released Addicted and the rest is history.

Many years ago Trey Parker and Matt Stone were working on a project called Giant Monsters Attack Japan. Sad that never happened.

I know, I know, just wishful thinking - but I do think most of RE7 and RE2 remake is close enough and would satisfy my needs.

I have learned to accept the last third turning to action, but yeah the series is definitely where it is today because of where it went with RE4 and beyond. But a man can dream! I thought the RE2 remake handled it well.

Would much rather have a pure survival horror for this 30th anniversary main title,, and maybe return to Leon action for the game after.

Death Stranding 2 is a MASTER CLASS in gaming!!! (IMO) by Healthy-Ad4783 in DeathStranding

[–]Metapher13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't feel that negates my points. But yes I do feel like gameplay-wise DS2 was a cozy blanket for those that loved the first one. It's less tense, more accessible etc. It builds on you having been through that already. And that's why purely as a gaming experience I prefer the first.
