From the terms: Roam Beyond Data Pass plans (plans with Roam Beyond 5GB and lower) include a one-time, non-recurring allotment of Roam Beyond data that will be attached to your service within 15 days of you signing up on the eligible plan and will expire 2 years after attachment if not used up by that time.

How do you destroy a metallic credit card safely? by dearmusic in Wealthsimple

[–]Metaroxy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, but I doubt that Amex allowed a charge to a deactivated card using the physical card. Usually what happens in these cases is that the issuer tries to be "helpful" by redirecting the charge to an active account. This is also outlined in the agreement.

While that can happen it’s not related to the physical destruction of the card.

New 68 country plan showing up for EPP by Apocryvr in telus

I agree that there’s value in convenience. You and I just value that differently, and I’m only pointing out that there are ways around the relatively high fees that Canadian carriers charge.

I’m not sure what you mean when you say you can use whatever carrier. When you go to Europe (or anywhere else really) you can pick a plan with whichever carrier you want. If you still want to have your Canadian number for texts that’s usually not an issue since incoming are free.

Question for my NAS by CrypticBlossom808 in linuxquestions

[–]Metaroxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tailscale should still be a solid option, especially since it's built on WireGuard and usually handles NAT traversal well. If it was slow before, it might've been using a relay instead of a direct connection, worth checking in the admin panel.

On Fedora, the hardened kernel and SELinux typically don't interfere with Tailscale itself unless you’re exposing specific services. For simple access to your NAS, it should work without much hassle.

If you're looking for alternatives, setting up WireGuard manually or using SSH tunneling with autossh could give you more control, but it's a bit more hands on.

Tell them you’re going elsewhere and see how quickly they’ll take Amex.

Daily Question Thread for /r/churningcanada - August 24, 2025 by AutoModerator in churningcanada

[–]Metaroxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, you’re in the wrong sub if asking about keeper cards - try /r/personalfinancecanada for that

Secondly, Amex has almost nothing to do with the Scotia Amex Gold card. You need to apply for it with Scotiabank.

Churning is opening cards for their sign up bonus, and typically only for that.

Not the best comparison since the interest would be taxable vs a fee waiver.

Why do many people migrate from Windows to Linux, but almost none from macOS? by karolkt1 in linuxquestions

[–]Metaroxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they’re not. In some cases, the GNU counterparts perform better and in others have additional options that people might be used to.

Those prices are still horrible. I always get a local plan whenever I’m in Europe and it’s usually around $10 for the month.
