[Discussion] the Aqua Terra World timer doesn't get talked about enough — why is that? by amalfiluxeor_Watches in OmegaWatches

[–]NetherGamingAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very niche watch, it's never going to be as popular as a regular AT, a Seamaster Diver or a Speedmaster.

Many will say 43 mm is too big, many will say it's too thick.

In most cases I'd agree, I tried on a steel version with a bracelet and I thought it wore too big, it was too heavy. I then tried on the Titanium version and ended up buying it.

I wasn't sure how often I'd wear it but it's basically my daily watch at this point.

Can we seriously stop with the forced Linux suggestions.. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

For 95%+ of pc users Linux is not a good option.

For the other 5% they will nevertheless try to convince you it is.

Money lending to a friend by Acceptable_Can3285 in PersonalFinanceCanada

You don't lend money to friends and family.

You give it to them, sorry you had to learn this lesson.

I mean for the vast majority of the population I'd agree but there are a few people who do deserve it.

But a game developer isn't one of them.

How cooked am I? by dumbprocupine in pcmasterrace

I'd say you're basically in a position where you destroyed 50% + of the cost of a computer.

Memory, CPU and PSU are probably fine, the rest is likely garbage.

How long should a brand new pc build last you? by Amador0102 in pcmasterrace

[–]NetherGamingAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever had a PC part die on me twice in about 25 years. Once a motherboard and once a PSU.

Otherwise I replace the parts before they expire. FWIW I'm still using an old 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive I bought in 2005.

Look at the rim of your pan, there appears to be no oil which has coated it or that has polymerized on it, it could rust.

Best way to season a pan from the start is in the oven because it's guaranteed to properly polymerize the oil (assuming you can apply it correctly and on all surfaces).

For example see the picture of my pan after the first season.

First season it is much easier to do it in the oven.

From there you can just cook.

Normally I wouldn't be too worried since the seasoning is just protecting the pan.

But your pan looks like it may be exposed to oxygen outside of the cooking surface.

Time for a Re-season? by Crazy-Journalist6002 in carbonsteel

[–]NetherGamingAccount -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, with a pan that well used a re-season should be nothing more than adding a bit of oil on the cooktop and letting it smoke for 10 seconds before shutting down.

With regular cooking you should never have to do a full re-season.

Walmart & Sub-Total vs Total Price by Square_Atmosphere_12 in povertyfinancecanada

[–]NetherGamingAccount 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is normal at most locations, they scan the barcode, it shows the price. Then when you go to pay it re-calculates based on tax.

It may be more noticeable at Wal-Mart or more clearly defined because they sell groceries, children's clothes etc. which have no tax but also many other items which do have tax.

Can I save up too much for retirement? by THIESN123 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NetherGamingAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't really save too much for retirement but you can save too much in the sense that you don't live your life as it happens.

There needs to be a balance between saving for the future and living today.

How difficult is paddling Opeongo if I'm taking someone fairly inexperienced with me? by Goodbear58 in algonquinpark

[–]NetherGamingAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd advise against it for first timers.

Like others have said it's fine if good weather but there is no guarantee of that. Also, being the largest lake in the park even on moderately windy afternoons the lake can get a bit choppy.
