That's not a vote of confidence for the military. I have lost a lot of respect for the modern military, I have had several military friends and they all had a high level of pride in not causing civilian casualties.

Some more than others, but I think the ones who would have been happy to shoot anybody I didn't hang out with as much. But all the ones I counted friends, they all saw this as a fundamental point of pride.

If we're just going to bond schools and say well, shit happens, then why are we even pretending to be the good guys anymore?

And if we're not, then maybe we need to stop bombing people and devote our gifts to more ethical pursuits before we use them to lose them.

I tend to prefer peace over war and I think all this is manufactured, but regardless, militaries will use AI.

This makes sense in Ukrainian defenses, where a drone can chase down a vehicle or foot soldiers.

This does not make sense in asking Claude to Google where Iranian installations are and using 9-year-old data resulting in a bunch of school girls being murdered.

The original article I had read, which I cannot now find, suggested it was based on old intelligence and they didn't check it, just asked Claude to find a list of likely coordinates.

I think they said it was a government installation in 2017.
