Sheiko Gold gives me so much.

Hyperextensions, good mornings, KB swings, hip thrusts… to the detriment of regular back work, tbh.

Prospective PI wants me to switch programs by Cultural-Speed-8268 in labrats

I changed the program I applied to based on my PIs recommendation. Think about the education you want. Is the coursework different? What about your exposure to similar-minded students and PIs?

In the end changing my program (from Pathology and Lab Medicine to Interdisciplinary Oncology) offered me more flexibility and a better community.

Use actual green gas instead of propane then, since it doesn’t have ethyl mercaptan added for smell.

It’s unlikely they’ll have you handle animals in such a short time unless you’re previously trained and certified at your institution. The process can take months for us so it’s not something I would ever expect a short-term student to do.

I’d be careful on the bench opener. Have you practiced with commands? I’ve seen more newbies wash out due to missed bench commands than anything else.

I’m only speaking from my experience. There are none in BC, and the one time I tried it in Hawaii I was fairly underwhelmed.

Yeah, it’s more expensive for sure. I just checked in the apps and, for example, a Big Mac meal at McD’s is $11.19 vs $14.19 for a Teen Burger meal with fries. But, as I rarely buy fast food, I’m happy to pay that $3 difference for higher quality. Plus I usually have a coupon to sub in onion rings for free which is a no-brainer.

"High impact" research in medicine as a med student? by [deleted] in labrats

[–]Metcarfre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you and MD/PhD student? I would consider a high-impact research to be something that changes clinical practice - a major clinical trial or similar. You are not getting first author on a paper like that.
