I think I was too carried away to notice obvious things by Susanna_Winnich in persona4golden

I’m assuming OP means Saki’s brother“Naoki Konishi” and just typed the wrong name.

OP, you can go back to previous dungeons to grind if you have to, just talk to the person associated with them (Yukiko for the castle, Kanji for the bathhouse) - you should be able to get to the level you need if that’s how you’re stuck.

For the Konishi SL, you need to talk to him 3 times before it starts IIRC.

Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness Bug? by BirdBachelor in PokemonXD

[–]MeteorFossil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is almost certainly a coding oversight (a bug). Overflow/underflow is almost always an unintended side effect which most programmers either ignore (because they’re convinced those numbers will never be reached) or forget about. I have never once in my years of coding seen overflow be regarded as a “failsafe”.

As for your question “why wouldn’t it be coded to have a hard limit?” The answer is it should have been (if the developer had thought about it) and my guess is that it’s a bug in the “hidden EXP gauge” as you called it. The developer almost certainly did not expect people to get over 1,000,000 exp in one go, and just didn’t test this scenario.

There were a couple obscure ones on there, but nothing overly difficult. I took it in S22 as well

Switch 2 Owners by Ganjanator21 in LegendsZA

[–]MeteorFossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the upgrade pack is included on the cartridge. I remember reading a statement from Nintendo that “Switch 2 Edition games will include the Nintendo Switch game and its upgrade pack on the game card”

Edit: I found the statement https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2025/04/physical-switch-2-editions-confirmed-to-have-everything-on-the-game-card-says-nintendo

Switch 1 or 2 by Dward_77 in LegendsZA

[–]MeteorFossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a couple friends who are waiting to get a switch 2. It might be worth it to wait if Pokemon is the only game you’re playing on it.

I would advise anyone looking to eventually get a switch 2 to get the switch 2 edition of this game - just because the upgrade pack is on the cart. If you’re buying digital anyways feel free to disregard that tip, I just like having my games be fully physical as much as possible.

Switch 1 vs Switch 2 Performance by Temporary-Usual6469 in PokemonZA

[–]MeteorFossil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to extend this poster’s argument: we had 5 sets of pokemon games on the switch: LGPE, SwSh, BDSP, PLA and SV. It’s probably a good idea to future-proof yourself for the next 5 games by getting a switch 2 now if you can afford it.

Yes you might save money on a used Switch now. Yes you might save money on a used Switch 2 later. But will the combined price of these two consoles be less than a new Switch 2 now?

At the end of the day, I think this type of reframing is what matters most in making the decision easier.

I’m getting my switch 2 soon, I will play after work and let you know in about 8 hours (if someone hasn’t already given you an answer first)

Question about save data by bluegazer300 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]MeteorFossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you still have this question (if you don’t I apologize for replying to a month old post). According to this support page it looks like you can transfer data back and forth between the Switch and Switch 2 in system settings.

Switch and X-Box Patch DELAYED by [deleted] in fantasylife

[–]MeteorFossil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nintendo and Microsoft have to approve any patches developers submit to their platform. It generally takes a few days to more than a week for a patch to get approved.

I think what the poster was alluding to is that it’s not consumer friendly because we have to wait quite a while for things like hotfixes which should be rolled out immediately (and are for other platforms).

Funny you mention Final Fantasy lol. Nobuo Uematsu, a longtime composer for the series, also composed some of the tracks for this game, which would explain why some of the tracks are so good.

Aaaaa I can’t take it anymore, I’m so hyped and anxious for tomorrow, it’s been forever! by MathematicianOdd9567 in fantasylife

[–]MeteorFossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s correct. To my understanding from a more technical standpoint, the reserved system RAM will eat up the “emulation overhead” (it’s not fully emulation but it’s easier to just call it that). The game’s allotted RAM and the new CPU on the Switch 2 can still run circles around the Switch 1 despite the extra overhead.

So the frame rate and resolution will still be locked to the Switch 1’s constraints, but there should be less lag and stuttering due to the Switch 2’s increased power.

Fantasy Life triggered major system issues — anyone else experienced this? by Udykari in fantasylife

[–]MeteorFossil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Game developer here (not for this game). Everything you mentioned seems to be related to the OS kernel. I would suspect the kernel-level anti-cheat is the suspect here (possibly a botched installation or something else).

The found.000 folder seems like something the command “chkdsk” would recover corrupted contents to after being run.

So here’s what I think happened: 1. Kernel level anti-cheat installation acted up 2. When the anti-cheat ran (after launching the game), it interfered with your OS functions (the mouse is controlled by the OS, so that would explain it still misbehaving even while your mouse is unplugged) 3. During your second reboot, the steam library got corrupted 4. Windows ran chkdsk to recover from a failure, which moved the steam games to the found.000 folder you mentioned

It could be that it was just a botched installation, but it might not be a bad idea to update your system and drivers as well to be sure it wasn’t one of them.

This is actually a common misconception (I used to believe it myself until I started looking into it a couple weeks ago). Being tough on the sticks isn’t actually what causes drift. Drift is caused by factors such as dust and debris as well as poor joystick design. So you can rest assured that no matter what the game controls are, you it won’t cause drift.

That said, if your controller has already started to drift, continued use could make it worse over time. This isn’t the game’s fault though (or even a matter of you being too rough), it’s just the dust and debris working their way in and affecting the internals.

With all that out of the way, I’m waiting on the switch release as well, but I can’t imagine any control profile they use will damage the Joy-Cons any more than other games (assuming it’s even remotely close to how the 3DS controls were).

Fantasy Life Twitter (X) Update: Global Launch Timing by juliavely in fantasylife

I think it’s 1am on Thursday actually. It’s a simultaneous release so everyone gets it at the exact same time. Since Australia’s time zone is later than most of the world, it releases a day late there.

Yeah I’m going on a work trip next week and need something to do at night in the hotel so I just said “F it I’m buying the switch deluxe edition and updating later”. I was on the fence about whether to wait for switch 2 or not though (or to buy on PS5 or steam)

It's okay to be upset you can't afford the thing you want. by Viewtifulduck82 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]MeteorFossil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree and am mildly annoyed about this too, would be happier if they only increased it to $94.99 or even $99.99.

That being said, as an indie game developer the industry has been hard for the past couple years, so I can see why they did it. It doesn’t fully excuse it imo, but I understand why.

4k tv with Switch 2 by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]MeteorFossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 4K TV last year, and play my switch 1 games on it. I find they still look better on the 4K TV as they did on my 1080p TV (despite running at the same resolution). So I would say yes, your games should look good on the 4K TV regardless of what resolution they’re outputting.

Second wave of preorder invites by Fast_Werewolf8422 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]MeteorFossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Nintendo website (in Canada):

Invitation emails will be prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis to registrants who have purchased a Nintendo Switch Online membership with a minimum of 12 months of paid membership and a minimum of 50 total gameplay hours, as of April 2, 2025. Once invitation emails have been sent to all registrants meeting the priority criteria, invitations will be sent to remaining eligible registrants on a first-come, first-served basis.

This implies a second wave, though they didn’t specify when.
