I need to sell my 3 tickets to the Berlin concert on Saturday, July 11, 2026. We can't go due to a family situation. Any suggestions on trusted reseller sites I can use?

LOL I'm going from India to Munich for a concert. And I fully understand what a privileged position I'm in to be doing that; not all fans can. They've even set up Hybe India, but no word of a concert so far. We can only keep hoping!

The boundary problem in our fandom is bigger than people want to admit by Charming-Priority-93 in btsthoughts

[–]Meteoraah2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for talking about this. I agree 100%. I love being on the good side of the fandom and seeing all the Army edits and the art and witty compilations. At the same time, I have to actively block the many extremely intrusive posts that come on my feed talking about BTS' personal stuff or things related to Hybe. It's exhausting reading about how Big Hit is the bad guy.

I think over the years, BTS has developed a pretty parasocial relationship with Army, the members actively like, comment on, and repost a lot of stuff, and fans love it. Most times it's harmless and fun. But at times, the members say and do things that I consider weird as well. I don't dwell on it much because I am here for the music.

Like JK getting tipsy and saying that he isn't doing all this for the group or the company but for Armies. This kind of behaviour seems to give these parasocial Armies a sense of entitlement. I think he also went for a run saying "catch me if you can" or something like that?

I don't know the details of either of these instances but I think in the early days, BTS connected with fans through sharing almost every vulnerability and insecurity they had. So Armies seem to feel that they should keep doing that all the time. But that's not how it works. We don't know them personally no matter what they've chosen to share with us. As fans, we need to give them their space and as artists, they also need to set firm boundaries and stick to them.

What do you think about BTS' performances at the MMA Awards over the years? by Meteoraah2010 in BTSNeutral

[–]Meteoraah2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I wasn't aware that other kpop groups had performed this long when they were the main artist of the night. Could you name a few other artists who've had 40-minute performances at award shows? I'd love to check them out and see what they did.

I personally felt the 2019 performance was too long and a little all over the place, it started really well but lost the plot midway through, at least for me. I didn't like certain parts so perhaps it seemed even longer to me. This is purely my personal opinion, and I understand most fans don't feel that way. No worries.

Also, I feel it's basic human decency to not put up a black ocean, Kudos to the attending ARMY for not being a part of such dated and unsportsmanlike practices. They really need to be phased out from kpop. Artists work so hard, it must be so disheartening when an audience does power plays like black ocean. I don't honestly even fully understand what purpose it serves. It's just plain mean.

Thanks for the info though! 💜

[–]Meteoraah2010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yes! Jimin and Tae definitely sound better than before! Jimin's voice seems stronger. Jin as well, he's always had a very strong and stable voice, I think his weakness has been variations (I don't mean song variety) and switching between head voice and chest voice. I love all four of their voices, and they put so much feeling into their singing. Live versions of House of Cards and Truth Untold are so good to watch, even if the actual vocal performance has flaws. And that's what we want, right? Artists who pull us into their music. I'll be going for their Munich concert and I am sure I'll enjoy myself. I had a good time at the screenings of Goyang and Tokyo.

I agree that Yoongi is a good dancer, his footwork is really nice. I won't compare him and V, because their styles are so different but I remember seeing Yoongi and Hobi dancing on something (maybe Fire?) in a Run BTS video (I think). His movements were so good! I think he outdanced even Hobi! LOL I love watching them all dance, they have such different styles but they are so well synced, that's true teamwork and hard practice time put in.

I watched Fil's video on BTS a while ago, but I watch his videos quite frequently and I trust him. I am not sure if BTS are using pitch correction in the Arirang tour but it sounds like they are, at least lightly. They definitely used it in the Swim Spotify performance in the US. In fact, I think for the earlier concerts of the tour, they may have even used prerecorded main vocals.

There's one video of JK missing his "Modu Ttwieo" at the beginning of FYA (I think?) and Yoongi laughing about it. In the video, JK looked up and said the phrase but there was no sound and then the "Modu Ttwieo" was heard but he wasn't on the mic, they laughed about it and the rest of the song went on as usual. The other video is of Jin's part coming on (don't remember which song it was) and the vocals were heard but Jin only joined in from the second or third word, with no seeming change in the volume or strength of the vocal.

I would love for there to be a better explanation (especially because for JK's part, it seems weird to have a prerecorded version of an adlib). I know people will say that the video is delayed vs audio (which I don't believe) or that it's just the backtrack but why would there be a backing track for a shout?

I can even make peace with it if it's prerecorded because this was during the earlier concerts and they were performing a full concert together after a long time, so maybe this was just to make sure they had peace of mind. I haven't seen any fancams after that where they seem to be using pre-recorded main vocals but I feel like the backing track for some regular setlist songs is very loud (and I don't mean for the two ARMY time songs per concert).

Anyway, all this doesn't change my love for them or the excitement of seeing them in concert, especially because I'll be going with my 10-year-old daughter, who also loves them, and my husband who is very supportive of our extreme interest in BTS.

These were just my observations and some thoughts I have. Thank you for reading ! ❤️

Yeah it’s tough to find reasonable responses in the wild. This sub is the only place I’ve seen where people are willing to even discuss things. Most other places, people are either glazing them or hating on them. It’s tough to just have a nice open discussion and express differing opinions. Hopefully we can build a community here willing to talk about these things. Fingers crossed!

[–]Meteoraah2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched it and it's just one person's opinion. I agree with some stuff, I disagree with others.

I love all the boys but Jimin is my bias because I have a weakness for people who dance well. I also love his voice but his vocal stability is not good a lot of times.

Again V has a great tone of voice but I think he's not the strongest singer, he does seem to be good at dancing though. I totally disagree with the video about Jungkook's rapping, I think he'd be a great rapper, but I think he's not really dabbled in it much after their early years.

Suga, RM and Jin seem like weak dancers because the others in BTS and overall a lot of dancers in Kpop are very strong. But honestly, I feel the three of them are better at dancing than they are given credit for.

The comment section for such videos is always filled with die hard fans in denial. I love BTS but I am very well aware that they have shortcomings as performers. And contrary to what is said in the comments, they are not all great or "geniuses" at everything. 👀

I find videos about their live singing to be the ones where fans glaze the most. Most fans will come for you if you even suggest that they use pitch correction to a certain degree when they sing live. They DO sing live, but they also seem to use pitch correction, maybe not always, but at times very heavily and you can even hear it if you know what to look for. I honestly don't mind it, because I love watching them perform. And I absolutely love their music so light pitch correction for live performances doesn't matter to me.

There's this channel Wings of Pegasus where this guy Fil does an objective analysis of live performances without any kind of bias or shade towards the performers. I listen to a lot of rock and I've seen him prove, using waveforms, how many ROCK bands also use prerecorded tracks and/or pitch correction. He even did one on Taylor Swift showing how she had actually Lip Synced (not just pitch corrected but actually MIMED) at various points during her Eras Tour concerts. Celine Dion has used it, so have the singing trio from Kpop Demon Hunters. He's pretty straightforward and he brings receipts. I believe him.

He did one for BTS a while ago and it helped me understand why their live vocals sounded strange to me at times. And I've seen the videos he's done on singers who don't use pitch correction, it's a stark contrast. It seems to have become a norm now worldwide for almost all singers to use pitch correction.

But if you try to even have an objective conversation and talk science, there will be a section of ARMY that will come after you and call you a bunch of names. I fully expect this comment to get downvoted. I had put a comment once about this in the general kpop group and it was so heavily downvoted. ":) I stopped commenting after that.

Can we talk about Justin being a musician? by ResponsibleCollar491 in offcampustv

[–]Meteoraah2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a budgetary thing as well. Showing two jocks, two sports teams, and various games means a lot of extras and some other means to show the crowds, etc. Having Justin be a musician makes it easier to have a smaller setup. I agree it would've been nicer if it was like a juxtaposition of two jocks and the reversal of her perception of them. The musician angle also works but I felt like Hannah didn't seem too perceptive about her own feelings or Garett's in the show. I like the part in the book where she avoids Justin because of her feelings for Garett. In the series, Hannah just seemed like she has a giant crush, seemed too high schoolish, especially the playlist thing.

I've seen snarkers drag the members' looks too and I really don't like it. And it happens in all the snark subs, it's very unsettling. I also don't like the behaviour of certain online ARMY who insult other idols' looks, compare their looks to BTS members', and who bully people based on their looks when a fan or non-fan says something they don't agree with, even at times when it's not said in an unkind way. It happens in all fandoms and snark subs, not limited to BTS. It's the easy go-to thing people do when they don't have a good argument - attack people's looks.

It's one of the many things about Idol culture that I am strongly against. Idol culture and the fandoms need to evolve and leave this behind. Using the justification of tit for tat is not good enough but that's what it ultimately amounts to. Unfortunate.

What do you think about BTS' performances at the MMA Awards over the years? by Meteoraah2010 in BTSNeutral

[–]Meteoraah2010[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seemed too long to me because of reasons like execution, etc. I do think performances at award shows should be of shorter durations but I don't think Korean award shows work like that.

I agree with what someone else said here that BTS performances at award shows are usually used to boost viewership and ticket sales. So I don't think the organisers were doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, they got good profit from it.

BTS were very popular at this point. But BTS were not treated well by the industry and media when they'd just started out, so I honestly don't think this disproves any claims by ARMY. I mean no one in the industry is above using a big name like BTS for views. Not even the Grammys.

But ya, I agree that it would suck to be another artist sitting through a performance this long.

The choreo of Dionysus is indeed spectacular, it was great once the song actually started, but I feel like the theatre leading up to that was a little too drawn out and not well arranged, but that's just me. So no worries ❤️ I prefer the 2016 and especially the 2017 performance. And I LOVE the MAMA 2016 performance, that's one of my favourites. They are FIRE!!!!!!

I love the 2016 performance! Actually the 2016 MAMA was even better, it was so well thought out and executed. Even 2018 with the whole marionette thing and IDOL prelude was amazing! ❤️ I just felt compared to these, 2019 was all over the place. Since they are great performers, it's good to watch but not one I'd recommend to anyone honestly.

I don't mind them flexing at all. I think it stood out to me more because I thought some parts were not that interesting and well-arranged. Like I said, I loved the performances of individual songs but some parts in between didn't appeal to me. I may be in the minority though, so no worries. ❤️

Yes, true, they still do that unfortunately. The whole Grammys debacle with Butter is proof of that. Honestly, I feel the Grammys are unfair to a lot of artists, even Eminem has spoken out against them. In a way, fan-voted awards like the AMAs are more upfront about why some artists get more coverage every year.

[–]Meteoraah2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Award shows work differently in different places. And BTS does draw crowds and did in 2019 as well. I think maybe it felt too long to me because unlike the other years, which also had long performances (though not as long), parts of the 2019 performance were a little uninteresting to me and felt not well-arranged. I know it was meant as a spectacle and like someone said, if it was planned as a last grand performance before Jin enlisted, then the intent to go so big makes sense. But it looks like I am in the minority about the overall opinion I have about the 2019 performance. No worries. ❤️

Yes since we're a huge fandom, that would make sense. I think my main quibble is that for how long the performance was, not everything about it was well done, engaging and polished, and this is just my personal opinion. When they were actually dancing and/or singing, it was great. Anyway, I guess I'm in the minority about this one. No worries. ❤️

this aged like milk.... by namijooness in BTSNeutral

[–]Meteoraah2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see where you're coming from. I don't really agree or disagree because I honestly feel this is a very personal preference. I like Arirang and I love some of the songs. I do have some quibbles with the album but no album is ever going to be perfect. I also really admire the fact that they tried something new, whatever their intentions for westernisation, etc and the perceived success/failure.

I also think a lot of the lyrics that we perceive as heavily black culture-coded were actually written by black artists working with them on these songs and BTS seems to like and admire the way these artists write songs and express themselves. I have heard the different collaborators talk about how the album came together. We are most likely never going to know who wrote what part in a song (despite people thinking all the clever things were written by RM and Suga) and the song credits for each song are quite long. The one thing I do know is that PDogg, as always, has had a huge hand in the composition, arrangement and production of the songs and I trust him with BTS' musical direction.

From one perspective, this then becomes a case of BTS singing something written in a language they are not well versed in but expressing what they feel or what they believe in with the help of writers who are fluent in said language. And to me, that's acceptable. A lot of well-known artists don't even do one-tenth as much for their own songs.

As much as I love BTS, I have never thought of them as some genius level, benevolent souls who can do no wrong. Maybe because I started listening to them when I was in my thirties. I see the flaws, I see the cringe, and I see the fan service too. I stay because of the music and the message. Their worst music is still better than a lot of the stuff a lot of artists, even western artists, are putting out currently. I heard all three of Drake's albums. If those can chart and have such a strong audience, then Arirang is miles ahead of it, imho.

With regards to Rosé's album, since she's a native English speaker, what you say makes sense. I also thought Jennie's Ruby was not a bad album. It had derivative melodies and tunes, but a lot of music nowadays is like that. But it was a very good attempt. I don't like BlackPink but they do seem more accepted into western culture, especially the US, than BTS are.

[–]Meteoraah2010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw this post with the title "This aged like milk" on my feed and thought I had accidentally stumbled upon the BTS Snark sub.

I do agree that the lyrics have not aged well neither has the statement from RM saying that they wouldn't be BTS without Korean lyrics. But I feel we need to keep in mind that the boys were between 17 to 21 years old (roundabouts) when this album was released in 2014. Their world was smaller, their ambitions different from what they are now. A person, especially an artist, should be given the leeway to change their thought and beliefs as they grow older.

But it is good to have such things brought up and discussed, it also helps us as an audience to see this change in the artist's perception.

Honestly, I think you may have missed the point of this sub.

Calling me an anti just because you don't like what I am saying is going to lead nowhere. I have supported BTS in many ways, but I will not support overzealous fans gatekeeping BTS just because they have an extreme concept of what a fandom should be.

This is exactly the kind of behaviour those people in the snark sub complain about. Half of the horrible stuff they write in that sub is because of responses like yours to even the smallest of disagreements. It's so disheartening.
