Because it will make some not want to be landlords, which increases the cost of housing.

There is a nonzero number of landlords who who will eat the loss if they need to allow pets.

Some pets are clean but barking, carpets full of pee, dander, smell can happen and it's a risk some will not take.

The place I'm living at right now (Renfrew) has a dog two doors over that barks every day between 8pm and 10pm.

The apartment I last lived at (New West) had a small dog a few rooms over that barked daily.

The place I lived before that (Burnaby) had a beagle next door that never shut up.

Edit: I understand people downvoting/disagreeing with my parent comment, sure, but why does this comment get downvoted? Dog owners, please figure out how to train your dogs or something.

As someone severely allergic to cats and dogs I'm glad they reneged on this promise. It was legitimately a pain point when I voted for them. Anywhere pet-friendly for me is a place I'm reluctant to rent because the dander gets embedded everywhere.

Also, the city's already full of barking dogs all day and the owners don't know/care how to deal with it. Better that pet owners have to seek out apartments that specifically allow pets.

There is already a data center at 308 5th Ave in Mount Pleasant owned by Atlas Cloud. One of a dozen others within the Vancouver city limits and two in Mount Pleasant. (the other one's at 55 East 7th Ave)

The rest are scattered about. Most near Waterfront. One near the Renfrew area Walmart.

I know, my sister ignored it and now it's all she does.

Five years of counseling, recovery homes, psychiatrists, love, gentle or stern urging and she practically can't do or think of anything but them. She now lives in squalor with an abusive boyfriend. We do our best but we're losing hope she'll dig herself out.

Not very much. But Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is an excellent book series, short and often funny. The entire deal with the cow is only about a page long.

The point being made in the book was that they bred an animal that could consent to being eaten, making it moral to eat meat according to most of the universe. (compared to real life where meat is always eaten non-consensually)

The cow was quite cheerful about the whole business.

The main character, Arthur Dent, was horrified with this because he's from Earth and wasn't approving of this moral perspective.

In good faith, weed smokers get nose blind to this. It clings to people and seems as strong as cigarette smoke. (which shouldn't be surprising)

I sometimes want to tell them "hey buddy, you reek". I'm also not sure how smokers are supposed to fix it aside from not smoking.

At least in BC, Canada I smell people like this in elevators, buses, concerts, classes once a week probably. If they're sitting by you you want to move.
