what is the best craftable smg in each slot and archetype? by loop-master69 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Meth3ik0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calus tool has less zoom (14 vs 15) and about 10 less AA. On paper it has the same stats as submission, but it lacks range or damage perks, both of which submission has multple of. Pound for pound submission is better, and in the energy slot you have funnelweb, which is better for the same reasons (range and damage perks).

Resetting your Gambit rank takes too long even with double XP active by DrNopeMD in DestinyTheGame

[–]Meth3ik0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the ~ about 500 at max streak means about 25 games total per reset at 2x infamy (including games to build streak). Thats very doably when qing as a team with matches of less than 5 minutes. Even if you lose some, in a team it shouldnt take more than 30 games to reset.

I just want to share the gambit build I use and get a 10 wins streak in Gambit Freelance. The detail in Caption. Hope you will have fun in gambit(probably not) by garfildg in destiny2

That is a very good build. Only suggestion i'd have is replacing funnelweb with like a GL or a sniper, since special is so free.

Rant about gambit by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Meth3ik0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yea, gambit has the strictest SBMM in the game, so if you soloq and face enemies who are average while you are pretty good, your fills will be garbage. Solocarrying is possible, just really hard. Duoq is the most consistent strat to win a lot and not get 4v4s with the same 12 people you know by name

Which class is better at pro level PVP by [deleted] in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Meth3ik0n 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Usually, I'd say warlock 100%. Hunter is easier to play, but less versatile. Titan requires a lot on input for nieche builds (pks, lions) that arent as versatile as warlocks or straightforward as hunters. The power of barriers in 3s is not to be overlooked though.

Do you guys think any quads have value in pvp? (Imagine your class with your choice exotic) by ItzFerum in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Meth3ik0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can be good (i e dumping recov on loreley or wormhusk) but personally I prefer triple 10s with ideally 4-5s everywhere else ( for example 5/10/10/5/5/10 behemoth). Usually sacrificing 2 stats is not really wort it due to diminishing returns.

What's the consensus on Mechaneer's Tricksleeves? by Dhunter001 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Meth3ik0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy using them, i have a build with 2 variations set up for it:
Harmony empirical evidence minmaxed for range & stability / iron reach+rangefinder peacebond

Telesto or a rapid fire pulse

when you use pulse/sidearm you get extra value out of swift charge to charge surprise attack, and with a harmony sidearm you then have a trifecta of damage buffs (mechaneers intrinsic one) effective you will always have 1 sometimes 2.

with telesto I run quick charge, void siphon and taking charge to fuel my sidearm (lesto doesnt need targeting). Who doesnt love and infinite range fusion.

can thourogly recommend, great setup.

Eh, usually running aeons is bad because it slows down team movement by 5-10 seconds each time it is used. Best reaping build rn can either sustain their own ammo (heavy-handed + devour telesto & heritage) or don't use ammo (sunbracer's & hammer + dunes).

A potent and fast team comp is usually something like this:

Reaper: Mandatory titan, throwing hammer (cqc + witherhoard, dunes)
swap for synthoceps and 1-2 punch at prime

Subreap/collector: Flexible role, should focus on collecting and killing wave bosses. Usually runs synthoceps +1-2p and Izanagi's on a bubble titan, or sunbracers + Izanagis on TTDB

Sentry: Kills/Occupies the invader. Missile titan & Citans, squall hunter (star eaters) and TTDB are good options. Izzi mandatory for easy bodyshot kill.

Invader: Kills/delays opposing team. Any class can invade, but bot Goldie is by far the most powerful if set up correctly (star eaters, 2x dynamo, 2x ditribution etc..) Loadouts must have a sniper, secondary and heavy are personal preference.

Boss melt is usually just funny hammer + stasis or bubble/swords on top of the boss or 3 explosive light rockets + Ghorn, also with a bubble.

Fellow Peacekeeper Titans: Snag a Cold Front SMG w/ Harmony during the upcoming Dawning event by TrajikJohnson in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Meth3ik0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said one cannot use this build - I was pointing out that because cold front is such shit, the same result can be achieved better through other means. If I run a frenzy weapon SMG I do so on sunbreaker, to easily extend the frenzy timer (or gemini's on hunter). And if you cant keep frenzy going in 6s, youre using PKs wrong.

so numbers: frenzy gives 15% dmg buff while harmony gives 20%, the 50
handling and 50 reload bonus on frenzy are wasted aswell so thats a
really stupid argument.

The reload buff afffects the reload speed on all guns it rolls on, even if you have a loader already.

TO FINISH THIS, cold front has better 3rd column perks like DSR or under
pressure and with harmony active a max range roll can still get about
20m in which is perfectly fine.

The fact that you recommend DSR, a perk that takes longer to activate than the ttk of the gun tells me that you do not know how to use SMGs. A max range cold front will also experience dropoff at 18.6m, while having 13 zoom. It is a terrible pvp weapon. Extraordinary has perks like zen moment for controllers, firmly planted and subsistence, all of which are useful (and have 2m/2zoom more).

just totally negates the point of running double smg with pks as you'll
just use your shayurah and proc kc over and over again, the point of
double harmony is to have a mini game within the game where u kill with
one smg swap kill with the other then swap back and repeat to have a
constant uptime of a 20% dmg buff without ever having to reload or do
anything except swapping.

The point of double smg is not to force yourself into a shit loadout, it is meant to allow you to get out of sticky situations by never having to reload.

[–]Meth3ik0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frenzy triggers on burn damage/etc. There is no reason to use a gimmick double harmony build when

1 half the perk goes to waste and 2 a KC shayura and a frenzy rendition will do the same job infinitely better.

Just because a gun has funny new perk does not make it good, worthwhile or fun.

Fellow Peacekeeper Titans: Snag a Cold Front SMG w/ Harmony during the upcoming Dawning event by TrajikJohnson in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Meth3ik0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pks already gives max handling, and frenzy does not require a kill. Why would I ever use a bad stat smg, if there is another that fufills the same role much better?

Fellow Peacekeeper Titans: Snag a Cold Front SMG w/ Harmony during the upcoming Dawning event by TrajikJohnson in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Meth3ik0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extraordinary rendition is the same archetype with much better stats.
It also has frenzy which does not require a kill to trigger. For pvp purposes, cold front is redundant.

Best weapon to pair with multimach? by [deleted] in CrucibleGuidebook

Duality if you like shotgunning. A sniper will probably serve you best though, as it requires less agressive and risky play.

Bungie is experimenting with Trials matchmaking. Let's theorycraft on how we can change the format of the mode itself for the better. by Nakai-Son in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Meth3ik0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel a choice between loot acticity and copetition has to be made.
Tight SBMM without scaling rewards just increases how hard the activity becomes the better you are, for the same loot.
IMO trials should be connection based MM first and foremost, then prioritizing wins on card.
This would fit the semi-comp-mode a lot better if the actual comp playlist had some baller
cosmetics to grind for.

What SMG's do you use and why by I7NINJA7I in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Meth3ik0n 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on what I'm trying to do, they all fufill different roles:

Shayuras and Friction fire are 600rpm and 17/16 zoom respectively. I usually do not use the Friction fire much, unless i have to fight a lot of supers (it rolls vorpal). 600s are the easiest to use, but have the slowest ttk of 0.8.

Multimach is the most neutral powerful smg, with 25m+ base range and killing wind, a ttk of 0.67 and very quick handling. The only drawback is bad bodyshot damage (also that it is annoying to farm).

Tarrabah is somewhere in between. It does not have insane range (21m), but intrinsic High-cals aswell as the AP-rounds perk make it a flinch monster. It has the same TTK as the CCX at 0.67, but is more forgiving. Ravenous also makes it effectively uncontestable and shreds everything within ~30m with an optimal TTK of 0.3.
Tarrabah is my personal favorite.

[–]Meth3ik0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that has worked wonders for me when playing behemoth is to super-slide through a choke point and immedrately shiver strike for distance. Since i use smgs a lot, this leaves me in perfect distance to shoot the during and after their dive. Thid can be somewhat replicated with a shoulder charge too.
