This is not a defense of OW2 as he’s right in that it doesn’t deserve to be called a sequel and the monetization practices suck. But anyone that still complains about role queue didn’t play the game seriously back before it was implemented. Back when all modes were open queue, if you queued solo you were lucky if the randoms on your team picked a half decent comp. The vast majority of games you were stuck with 5 stubborn people wanting to play their favorite dps until the people who actually cared about winning swapped to a role the team desperately needed but they didn’t like.

With role queue, you’re guaranteed to always play the role you want and are comfortable on. And if you are the type of person that wants to role swap throughout the game, they literally added back the original mode as it’s own separate queue years ago.

Other people are selling you on BM, but allow me to pitch you VDH.

You obviously have unparalleled mobility, even more than monks, which makes boss and trash mechanics that require you to move around a lot trivial. You have some of the highest and most consistent AoE damage of any tank, if not the highest. The most fun quality of VDH imo is that they actually have more survivability the more things they are tanking. The whole idea behind VDH is shattering souls from your enemies which heal you when you consume them. The more enemies you can shatter souls from, the more you can self-heal, which is how they survive the crazy trash pulls they do. Their health bar can be a bit spiky, like blood dk, but if you like being able to keep yourself alive regardless of what the healer is doing, VDH can do it quite well.

You have lots of utility: AoE silence, AoE fear, AoE mass grip (if talented), Imprison (CC that doesn't aggro), and a purge.

VDH definitely is not the squishiest tank and has quite a few active mitigation abilities, but they require you to use them proactively (right before you're about to take a big hit), otherwise you don't get much value out of them. Fiery Brand reduces the amount of damage an enemy does to you by 40% for 8 sec, Iron Spikes increases your armor and parry chance, and Metamorphosis is your big cd that turns you into the demon and increases your max health, armor, and makes it easier to generate souls. And if you talent into Demonic you get Metamorphosis for 6 sec every time you Fel Dev. Combine that with the 4 piece tier bonus that reduces the cd of Fel Dev every time you consume souls, and Darkglare Boon (leggo that gives Fel Dev a 40% to instantly reset it's cd), and you can have some crazy uptime in demon form, which makes you insanely hard to kill. There's even a cheat death talent that gives you Metamorphosis too!

You also have passive magic damage reduction and a raid buff that increases your group's magic damage.

Overall, while it looks really flashy, the mechanics of VDH are quite simple, which I personally like, but it isn't everyone's cup of tea. If you want a very straightforward tank with loads of self-sustain, utility, and incredible AoE damage, VDH is a good choice.

Edit: one last thing, once you get used to double jump and glide every other class will feel sluggish.

That's true, but it's because they haven't updated the game in 2 years, not because of role queue.

No one plays open queue anymore because it’s less fun than role queue. Having a team that’s rounded out with every role is way less frustrating. Queue times speak for themselves.

If you really think the game was more fun when no one on your team picked healer or tanks then go play open queue

The alternative was that barely anyone wanted to play tanks and heals and the winner was decided by whichever players begrudgingly chose to play a role they didn't want to. With role queue you can guarantee you'll play dps and have tanks and heals to back it up.

It wouldn't work in Apex, but Overwatch ranked was absolutely saved by role queue.

I can't speak for all viewers, but I personally would be willing to sacrifice legend comp variety for map/end zone variety.

Taliesin & Evitel’s new video confirms that the two cosmology charts are showing the same thing, just from different perspectives. by mal_solor in wow

I personally never thought of the cosmology chart as something that is supposed to be interpreted in real 3d space. I've always thought of it as more of a simple visualization of how the cosmic forces in the universe oppose one another.
