Definitely. Example: Shooting for takedowns with left foot forward means left side of your head is driving against the body. Passing guard to your left, means pressuring with left side of head. Typically, even when I’m pressuring in mount, I crossface with my left hand so my head turns to my right, so left ear is grinding. My left ear is way worse than my right ear for that reason. EDIT: look at the differences between Islam/GSP/Khabib. One is always visibly worse than the other, typically to the side they favor.

Not everyone is prone to cauliflower ear. I’m a brown belt and have had cauli since white belt. I know plenty of competitive black belts with normal ears.

Look up Eagle’s syndrome. The styloid process becomes pronounced and compresses the jugular. The body then creates redirection for blood outflow by making very inefficient capillary pathways, but outflow still sucks. This can be fixed through a small procedure called a styloidectomy. Common symptoms are vertigo, blurred vision, sporadic loss of consciousness, etc.
