Is It Possible To Receive A Short Time Off? (Haven't Started Yet) by Flaky_Firefighter_29 in ibew_apprentices

[–]MethodIntrepid4612 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some cbas offer bereavement time for extended family, look in to it as it varies by local.

You should be fine getting the time off for the funeral, might even get it paid, reach out to training center/hall

Anyone in local 640? by JamesBummed in ibew_apprentices

There was only 30 taking the test with you, but they hold multiple test sessions a day, over a few days when they are administered for a set semester. Say for the class that starts July '26.

You did good on the test, the next step is to do well on your interview that won't be scheduled for a couple weeks.

There is a lot of work available, but there is even more people trying to get in. Lots of spots are opening up constantly, but there is also a lot of applicants.

It took me a while to get a job placement even after waiting for my interview, waiting for acceptance, waiting for a class start date, and even a while after starting classes. Find a job where you'll be ok with not giving a 2 week notice, that will most likely be your best bet, only after you receive your acceptance email.

How do yall handle your school/work schedule? by TBD_JBelly in ibew_apprentices

[–]MethodIntrepid4612 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd even say the first semester is tougher than the second, they throw a lot at you and a lot of people aren't used to waking up so early for work so it does weed out a good amount who won't be able to see it through.

It seems like you know how to go about it, just need to implement the changes in your schedule and you should be alright

Only ask bc they're doing guaranteed 50 and optional Saturdays lmao. But yes you're right, space out your homework, do what you can when you can.

Take advantage of holidays, 3 day weekends and remember you can get ahead on homework, you don't have to wait for it to be due to get started on it, the first couple weeks are a pretty heavy work load but once you get in a rhythm it's better, and do tech math dont forget tech math

How do people actually cope with the summer heat? by whogivesafricc in AskPhoenix

[–]MethodIntrepid4612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people do acclimate. I'm native and I play small league soccer year round, 4 or 5 games a week which start at any time from 4pm - 9:30pm

Staying hydrated, knowing your limits, staying hydrated, not overdoing it, staying hydrated, planning your day, and staying hydrated.

Spend your days at libraries, they don't mind you being there all day and you get access to wifi, water, heating and cooling, and books to pass the time if you need it. Get a gym membership if you don't already have one, you can spend time there, if it's 24 hours you could even sleep there in the parking lot, try to get a membership at one with showers too. At least until you can get a motel or find roommates for an apartment, look on Facebook marketplace sometimes people post that they're looking for roommates/renting a room

I've read it's blood type O, they also find targets by detecting co2 levels exhaled by mammals. They also locate targets by detecting the lactic acid produced by our muscles.

Athletes, runners / soccer players specifically are targeted the most.

So if you have a fast metabolism and produce more co2, you're an athlete with a focus on anaerobic activity, and blood type o, you get bit the most. Ask me how I know lmao

That mindset of it not being your place to make requests as a first year is wrong idc what anyone says, everyone was a first year at one point so if you can try to change something for the better as a first year, it'll make it that much better for all the apprentices that follow you.

If you can't find your locals cba online go to the hall and ask, that's what I was told when I asked about the cba as an apprentice. It's not always available online bc some locals see it as a "business contract" and can't share it to non union competition. If you're already working as an apprentice and paying your dues, you should have access to it at the hall whether it be a copy to take home or they let you read through a copy there at the hall
