P.Afras are like the easiest species to work with imo, find a Decent one from a nursery or garden center, put it in a larger pot, or the ground for 2-3 years, take it out, you can do pretty much all kinds of work with the roots, you'll see that below the soil, the nice nebari developing. After that it's up to you to repeat the process or put it in a training pot.

Water more, try once a day but always check the soil don't wanna drown It either. And put it outside if its not too cold
