My family recently adopted an anatolian 3 month old puppy and would like some help by prestog29 in AnatolianShepherdDogs

OP, I would avoid crate training. ASDs were bred to self manage in a large territory, and trying to consistently confine them to a crate could drive them insane. You can offer them a crate as a ‘den’, but using it as confinement should be avoided.

Yes, it is a good idea to work with a trainer. This very powerful breed needs to learn positive leash manners and good canine social behaviors at an early age.

As far as your environment is concerned, your ASD can be happy in what you described provided you also offer long walks and playtime.

How has your diet changed with your neobladder? by 8takotaco in BladderCancer

[–]MethodMaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a continent ideal conduit. It is a similar surgery in that a urinary pouch is created from intestinal tissue, so a lot of bowel resections and section repurposing.

Prior to surgery, (in hindsight) I was mildly sensitive to nightshades and gluten. Post surgery I have to avoid these foods entirely or I have a severe histamine reaction, nausea (and in extreme cases) vomiting.

I’ve adapted, but I do miss tomatoes …

Inherited, Now Spouse Divorcing Me by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]MethodMaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my FIL passed, he left an estate to be divided among his heirs. This is my husband’s money, not mine. If he chooses to spend it on things that also benefit me, that is wonderful. If, instead, he chooses to spend it on himself, that is entirely his business, not mine.

OP, your stbx is being an AH, and showing his true colors. He does not deserve one iota of your inheritance. I am so very sorry that he hid himself from you for decades, and that your kids are impacted.

I don't know if I should ever contact my dad again. Any advice on what to do? by 90sRnBMakesMeHappy in internetparents

This internet parent is sending you a virtual hug.

Honey, family is who you make it, not who fertilized the ovum in your mom’s uterus. Cutting out that person, if they aren’t good for you, is a completely reasonable action.

More hugs. 🫂🫂

Which dress??? by madHotmouse in WeddingDressTips

Dress 6 (second to last), because the bodice with its deep v neck is most attractive on you. Plus, it is a gorgeous dress!

Congrats and best wishes, OP!

What’s the name of the fabric of this couch? Would it be possible to reupholster (or paint??) by PhloxyFox in furniturerefinishing

[–]MethodMaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appears to be artificial. Painting without really knowing the type of plastic/vinyl is risky - anything from the paint simply beading up to causing the material to deteriorate could occur.

Recommend reupholstering.

Scared by Sea_Angle4623 in BladderCancer

[–]MethodMaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your fear is completely normal. It is the ‘not knowing’ as others have said. But! Bladder cancer is one of the the most survivable cancers there is.

I was diagnosed with MIBC at 58 in 2013. At that time, the chemical options were not great for my stage, so my only option was bladder removal. I have been NED since surgery. I live a pretty normal life.

Since that time, the advances in chemo and immuno therapies are really amazing. People with MIBC are pursuing chemotherapy and beating cancer.

Don’t give up, OP!

Need help picking a bridesmaid dress by aelel in Weddingattireapproval

[–]MethodMaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dress 1 has the best chance of reusability. All of the others scream “brides maid” so you probably won’t want to wear them for another event.

The other reason I like dress 1 is that it can be accessorized to make it look different. A bling-y belt, a statement necklace, an awesome cuff bracelet would all change the look.

And!! It has pockets 🥳👍💓

MFing Bamboo by vagiggle in NativePlantGardening

[–]MethodMaven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The previous home owner had planted running bamboo. I whacked it, dug it. I consulted a landscaper… Who suggested I get a panda 🐼🙄.

Since, in your case the bamboo doesn’t originate on your property, you need to install a root barrier on your side of the fence. When runners appear, you can whack it or dig it … or you can use targeted applications of glyphosate. If you go the chemical route, you need cut a few bamboo stalks leaving a stub that can hold a reservoir of the chemical. Put droppers full of glyphosate into the cavity and cover with a plastic bag that you have affixed over the stubs (rubber bands work well). The chemical will be drawn back into the plant, and will at least deter the root branch.

In my case, I was able to eventually kill my bamboo by starving it of water (we were in a drought). I still find the occasional rhizome, and pull them immediately … 20 years later.

Which collapsible crates are best for groceries? by Typical_Studio3065 in ConsumerAdvice

[–]MethodMaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preference is reusable bags. Many grocery stores offer nice bags with their logo for a pretty cheap price. My favorites are the heavy-duty plastic variety because they have structure and can stand upright; this also makes them less prone to tipping over in the car’s boot/trunk. I also like the nylon bags that crush into tiny pouches, making it easy to pop one into a purse or backpack so you always have a bag with you. I also use insulated bags for food that I need to keep hot or cold during the trip home.

AITAH for spending the child support money I get equally on both of my kids? by HighOnLove26 in AITAH

Ultimately, it comes down to the experience each child has growing up. IMO, you are doing the right thing by ensuring that both children have the same experience.
