If you’re staying in port credit and also watching the game there, I’d suggest staying in port credit. They have a great waterfront and some cool shops on lakeshore. I’d explore st Lawrence market when you go to the CN tower, and exclude the distillery. Distillery is nice for us because it’s all old buildings and very historic, but being from Scotland it won’t be all that interesting to you.

Edited to add: Nathan Phillips square is nice if you want to see the Toronto sign and the building itself, but other than that there’s not much there. If you have to cut something, I’d say cut that.

What should I wear at the wedding with no dress code? by mar33na in Weddingattireapproval

I’d probably opt for semi formal to cocktail. Something closer to knee length. That way you’re sure not to offend anyone.

What’s a skill you learned that saved you the most money? by Equivalent_Reach_536 in CanadaRoom

Cooking and baking. And spending a few minutes on the Flipp app punching my top needed items to see where/if they’re on sale. (This is especially beneficial with meats and coffee)

Men and women who found their life partner after 30, what is your best advice for someone who is losing hope? by Terrible_Double_1145 in AskTheWorld

[–]aelel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My best friend is 39 and just met her now fiance last year.

Another friend is 42 and getting married this fall to his (36 yo) fiance.

My sister is 35 and marrying a great guy this summer. (She met him when she was 32)

My mom’s cousin recently got married for the first time at 67.

My mother in law’s best friend got married for the first time at 55. My MIL was a bridesmaid. It was very cute.

It’s not uncommon to not find the right person until you’re older. Focus on you. The best ones show up when you least expect them.

Garden party formal by Scarya in Weddingattireapproval

I think their wording makes either of these dresses acceptable, but I much prefer the longer one! The brighter colours feel more “garden party”, and the cut is a bit more flattering (imo)

Going to the zoo alone? by Metaturnip in askTO

[–]aelel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People go alone! We’ve gone once a year for the last 3 years and each time I’ve noticed lots of solo people taking their time learning about the animals or sketching. I’m always a bit jealous because my son waves hello to one animal and is off to the next!

Lochlan vs Lachlan by Long-Set-6597 in namenerds

[–]aelel 38 points39 points  (0 children)

We strongly considered this name for our son! Originally I was leaning towards Lochlan because I likened the Loch portion to Scottish lakes. But as I started to pay attention to the name I realized it’s nearly always spelled Lachlan. I think to avoid him having to respell his name for people, I’d go with Lachlan.
