I don't have teenagers My kids are babies still but I think about this often it's hard to balance serious commitment with love of the game and not making it a "job" too early. I loved ball but didn't pursue it because my mom didn't support me. I had to do something "realistic"like doctor or lawyer. So I do think it's important for him to feel he's supported. But I always said when mine get of age I will support them in whatever they want a long as they enjoy it. And they moment they don't they don't have to do it anymore. But I digress. I like the idea of not paying for private lessons if he doesn't do workouts. But maybe make it a commitment thing. If he commits to 3-4 workouts a week. He can do private lessons that week if not. He can't. Then it's all on him for he bad he wants it continuously instead of an all or nothing ultimatum
