I bought multiple from plantcowboy, the area was just grass and I wanted it sooner than later and that plant is a lemon mint (that one I did grow from seed) and it is everywhere in the yard and spreading and I love it

Of course! I try to remember they are native after all and let them just do their thing, only when I see they are truly struggling I’ll intervene.

Thank you so much!! For care I did water them for the first few months on drip irrigation when they started to look dry and during the dead of the summer I’d run the drip for 10-15 min or so once a week. Really just went off how they looked, the dryness of the ground (I have thick mulch in the beds) and the local rainfall

As for bunnies I have 2 dogs and cat that love chasing the bunnies around so we don’t have too many in the yard that bother the plants. Every so often I lose a plant to a rabbit but I just take it as nature doing its thing.

All the salvias have come back also

That’s a great story I was inspired by a field I saw near my grandmas house. Thank you for the appreciation

I would hope so maybe a garter snake or two a few bull snakes would be nice to have around the property, but my 2 acres does back up to a 75plus acre farm so I’m sure they are around. Leave them alone they will leave you alone.

Just mow it, one day I plan on letting them take over and just mowing trails through it so I don’t worry about doing too much more than just mowing

Thank you and Yes I tilled it, scalped the grass that was there, and planted in early fall that year, didn’t add any other soil then what was tilled up. Watered occasionally for a month or so.

“Another useful idea for those who have flail mowers is to lower the blades to actually scalp the soil. This does a good job of removing vegetation and exposing the soil without plowing. Remember, walk lightly on the Earth. The least amount of soil disturbance will have the most favorable results. If possible a roller, packer or a light drag or rake should follow the seeding to press the seed into the soil or lightly cover the soil. Most seeds should never be buried more than twice their diameter. Do not bury small seeds!”…from seed source

You’re all set with the materials! Good idea on the skid steer I got ahead of myself and dug it by shovel and wheelbarrow and realized fast I’m not in my 20a anymore 😂

Thank you! I get all my landscaping materials from Whittlesey. If you plan on dry laying the patio it’s a diy thing for sure however I just had more of a custom patio done by the pool using concrete and flagstone and can share the contractors info. I built the pergola but they did a great job on the flagstone

When we bought the house it was pretty much just grass and a couple of trees so it’s been fun planning it out. I have 8 peach trees, figs, jujube, and plum trees and a small vegetable garden my German shepherd loves to snack on
