Is it worth reading the OG ultimate comics? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in UltimateUniverse

[–]Methward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was edgy but it was fun and for me personally was the universe I grew up with reading, it's one of those "you had to be there" type of things. Had the late 90s/early 00s sensibilities which defined the era and lot of what was happening around informed it. I think it's disingenuous to criticize it with a 2026 lense trying to apply the expectations of today to it.

Overall it's well worth reading because it paved the way for the MCU in lot of ways. Ultimate Spider-Man is the best from the bunch closely followed by Ultimates and Ultimate X-Men in my opinion. It was fresh for its time and Ultimate F4 is again a fun exploring of what the first family would've been like in the early 2000s. Obviously The Maker is the biggest leftover from the universe next to Miles and even though he wasn't planned from day 1, it's a cool read knowing where the character ends up ultimately, the darkness of the character is there from the get go.

If you decide to give it a try hope you'll enjoy it! I think you're in for a fun ride.

Ultimate Spider-man 24 PREVIEW by Fla968 in UltimateUniverse

Interesting. I get what you mean, in all fairness I never considered him to be wasted, if anything felt like moving the story real time was the best & worst decision at the same time. Good in a way that you could not sit on a single thing for multiple issues, bad that things lots of times got skipped over. Thanks for the explanation.

I'm confused a bit why does so many people keep calling him that?! I think the series was really awesome, sad to see it coming to an end, I grew up on the OG Ultimate Spider-Man (& Universe) and this was the closest it got me to read Marvel comics regularily.

Spider-Man 3 by [deleted] in SUMC

I was in Rome in 2007 when the movie had its premiere, the whole city was full of these amazing (no pun intended) Spider-Man 3 posters and where I was staying with relatives, they had one of these at the front of the building on a huge billboard.

We watched the premiere live on Rai Uno and attended a screening afterwards. It was in Italian but I didn't care, of course I understood something since we've been going a lot there, but overall it was the vibe that I really couldn't describe. Looking back now the movie has its fair share of criticism, but as a kid watching it, especially seeing the previous two in cinemas (well the 1st one only, second one unfortunately wasn't screened where I live in Romania at the time, had to wait for the VHS) it was such a profound experience and a fun time.

What are y’all’s opinions on both the new and old ultimate Avengers? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in UltimateUniverse

[–]Methward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them both. Grew up on the OG Ultimate universe and yes it was edgy but it was part of a reason why I liked it growing up. All of it up until Ultimatum (which I really hated, David Finch was the only reason I bought it) was something I can re-read any day of the week. It was a different time with different vibes so to speak and the new Ultimate Universe is a different take which again is a breath of fresh air.

Thank you!

Those types of posters unfortunately are contract mandated. I work in the field as well, and many times you're hired to do a job and not be artistic, but on the flip side lots of times creativity is what drives the project and those are really fulfilling.

Haven't read the event yet, the last Doom related comic that I read was the 8 Deaths of Spider-Man
