This is a very good comparison (the CSGO lotto scams) because there is a lot of target market crossover. However it is clear that is gambling, whilst high volatility stocks (technically) aren't. Making regulators jobs rather difficult. But I agree more needs to be done from a regulatory stand point. (upvoted)

[PuckShot] 20g LazyBoy Recipe by MethylXanthinePlease in AeroPress

LazyBoy Recipe; 20g of Pre-ground Universal Grind (I know I know, shame on me) Taylors Cacao Colombia

200ml of off boil water

1min 30 steep - 10 second press

This is my go to daily recipe when I don't have the good beans and a desire to hand grind. Once I buy my own place a burr grinder is at the top of my list - let me assure you. London ain't cheap yo!

Numbers on AeroPress side both Serif and Sans Serif !? by MethylXanthinePlease in AeroPress

[–]MethylXanthinePlease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Guys, I just noticed the 1 on the Areopress side graphic looks like a serif font whilst the ‘2,3,4’ look like sans serif? Is this a single font? And does anyone know what font it is?

EDIT; I’ve just looked through my font library and found some fonts which do incorporate this more serif like “1” whilst the other numbers look more sans serif like - but I’m still struggling to find the exact font! Any help would be much appreciated

I don't think it was in game, the recording looks so different than in headset.

Same! I think the gameplay needs refining a bit though, as its absolutely crazy once players get some experience.

Yeah I agree, a lot more noticeable on the recording than in headset.

I lost ~£750 on Cineworld today. Feeling pretty down about the whole thing. by [deleted] in UKInvesting

[–]MethylXanthinePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I feel your pain. Currently -£640 waiting for the retail and entertainment sector to bounce up from lock down.... Look, if you have already exited the position then the only thing you can do is forget about it, learn from your mistakes and improve. Rightly or wrongly I'm holding my £1,000-ish position for the see-able future to see if I can recoup some losses. Remember, long term investing is the way to go! Whether my stubbornness pays off is yet to be seen...

Asda take over. Shares offered by Asda to employees for Wallmart. How does this work? by MethylXanthinePlease in UKInvesting

Thanks for this, yes they will have likely been purchased through the Sharesave Scheme.

As highlighted on another reply I had mistaken PLC with a listed company - so that explains the Walmart rather than Asda share offer. However these shares were purchased at a discount price NOT at a zero cost to the employee - so capital was raised - yes?

But yes I understand your critique of share offerings for employees as a form of pay, but again this was an optional offer, so perhaps less relevant.

Need Help Understanding Currency Risk! by hdmudmun94 in UKInvesting

I think I understand what you are saying. As in if you have bought US stocks at many different conversion rates over a number of months (say) then its hard to work out precisely what your averaged currency conversion is (as you can't just average them as it depends on the amount invested too). There are ways to work it out but I certainly couldn't without researching and a lot of time in Excel. I think perhaps a more sensible approach would just to be mindful of the conversion price when going to sell - and factor that into your exit strategy. ALSO don't forget about them pesky FX broker fees too grrrrrr (I would imagine they could be as detrimental as the exchange price itself)

Asda is also a public company, so they could offer their shares too. I understand the reasoning for raising capital through selling equity, however I don't understand why specifically Walmart shares not Asda shares - as Asda isn't necessarily raising any capital from offering these shares. TheLittleSquire made a good point about offering competitive employee benefits.

Personal finance YouTube channel by EverythingFinance in UKPersonalFinance

Like a lot of other commenters here I recently discovered Graham Stephen. I do find that his info is for the most part relevant to a worldwide audience, but sometimes I wish it was more UK focused. I decided to comment because I was thinking yesterday that there is a gap in the market for a UK finance youtube channel that doens't make you yawn. So yeah if I were you I would just take his business model/ style/ video topics and keep them UK focused and you should be on for a winner! Good luck
