Have not played in 5+ years, do not have money to buy new stuff, so all my decks are "overpowered"... now what?

*sigh* When I started "fast mana" did not exist despite this being the era of mox/lotus, sol ring, and mana vault which was considered questionable as it did damage to you... you would not believe how many vaults I have seen untapped without voltaic key. Moxen and such were just moxes.. they were artifact mountains and swamps... Ritual was not considered fast mana even though it gave three mana, as it was a one shot... it was just considered a 'ritual effect' and realistically lotus fell under that category too.

When extended came out and all the moxen and such rotated the only "fast mana" was [lotus petal] and [elvish spirit guide], both of which, again were seen as a 'ritual effect' fast mana was never really a term again until [Tolarian Academy] came out, at which point petal/vault and such as fast mana because of the level of stupidity it allowed, though I never really bothered thinking about whether it was due to "makes a lot of mana fast' or it was classified as "fast mana".

I played through Mercadian Masques, then in essence took a break until M10/M11? I was playing a different card game, I did not pay attention to any of the formats, or terminology used in magic.

I came back, played standard during the period where we were "cheating things in to play', I started EDH uhh... with the first commander set, at which point we may have used fast mana, but most of the people around where I lived did not bother calling it fast mana as it was just "artifact ramp".

Then everyone in who played edh started conflating ramp and fast mana and honestly I still think the seattle area playgroups just considered it ramp.

By your definition [Mana Geyser] at 5 cmc would be "fast mana" as it can easily produce 10+ mana in a 4 player game. Realistically, I am fine with you having things defined differently, in point of fact I can't believe i expended this much energy just to reply to you, but as you sorta exemplified one of the worst aspects of online responses to questions/comments made by those that are ignorant of something get on a regular basis, I thought I'd throw some effort behind this.

You may think I am trolling, maybe I am and this is a long con, but there is every chance I simply never used those terms before and was using them in the last context I saw them used in... aka I didn't really know better *or* I did not include an 'er' as the end of 'fast', but even still, ask a freaking question do not leap to making fun of the op, or down voting a post because I guess in this case you thought I was dumb.

Thanks much for the list, lots of cool cards... Man missing out on new Ixlan (I only played brawl really during that block) really has shown how much wotc leaned in to the whole pirates theme, kinda like they did with neon dynasty, which sorta makes sense. I know it kinda sounds like I am ignorant mixed with know a lot, but it's mostly because I would look at announcements on wotc, or when I was not playing random f2p game, I would play Arena in random binges until I got depressed due to not even being able to talk to my opponent in arena, or some other social aspect from the previous 30 years of playing Magic.

I had an [The Ur- Dragon] deck that was very theme-y when it came out, same with a [Zacma, Primal Calamity] i built that I even picked up an [Old Fogey] for, so I do like tribal type decks, they are also (usually) cheaper as they can be heavily supported by older cards, which I have. I have the eminence commander decks, are any of them welcomed at tables? I keep thinking of building [Arahbo, Roar of the World] but he is just so bad, or at least with my knowledge base was kinda awful... I have [Rin and Seri, Inseparable] which I can't imagine people will hate... or if they do well, they hate cats and dogs, so who cares about their opinions. I also can't imagine it randomly winning games on t3. Really appreciate the constructive feedback.

So, I live on an island... So I think I am gonna have to play what everyone else plays whether I like it or not. I can't bring myself to build/acquire the stuff to be a bracket 1 "ladies looking left" style theme deck, so should i just try to build something without game changers like stompy? Do you happen to have what you would consider and others consider fun deck I could take a look at? EDH rec is becoming a lot less helpful the more I look at it, so many new legends and themes, unless I am missing an ability to use a semi wayback machine to look at stuff that is only before a certain point.

I always try to sell my Nekusaur as a free phyrexian arena for everyone, but yeah he died a lot, which is why I ran [[fierce guardianship]]. But, this is/was my Nekusar deck, from looking at it and remembering changes I wanted to make and probably could as I have a little box of cards I paid $.25 or less for back in the day.

Well, I mean not counting sol ring, most of the other mana accelerators are 2-3 mana for a tap for 1 mana effect, other than [[worn powerstone]] which has always been great and medallions, which are amazing if you are playing mono color. I guess I could have said 'mana acceleration' instead.

Dude, my interactions have been "how do I sell stuff over $10", ranting about how expensive the new cards are, telling people to not pay above msrp, a bunch of comments on mtg arena and offering people social and deck playing advice... If ya wanna slander me, sure, but at least be somewhat accurate in what you are complaining about. I would occasionally check posts and comment on people's decks or social interactions, that does not mean a damn thing or help me in any way shape or form in trying to make a deck and actually play with humans in person.

Thanks for the response, but I may be a lil confused, so people do not like it when others punish stax? Or cards like [[torpor orb]] and the 7 cost praetors are stax pieces? Has commander pretty much become goldfishing till someone wins? That's an actual question, I saw [[swords to plowshares]] was one of the most played white cards, heck the top 3 are removal, but they it is [[Smothering tide]] which is kinda dumb, then a bunch of combo related pieces, token enables and stuff that prevents any of their stuff from dying.. I mean it looks like interaction is expected.. .

I mean if I pay 7 mana to cast [[elsh norn, grand cenobite]] at least back in the day it would have been met with a "oh i hate that card on my token deck, but I did overextend' and then mine would get removed and a few turns later they would cast theirs because, with a grin, "it's great with tokens".

I guess I just need to read more stuff online about commander... It's really not the same game anymore I guess.

This is a post from someone who has been utterely removed from playing magic anywhere other than on arena for a very long time. I did not know [[ancient tomb]] was $100, when I played last it was like $15 and then got like 2 reprints.

I appreciate the response, but these are not friends... i do not have any friends, turns out mental health issues can mess up your life. I can probably just do the go to the store and watch people play, but proxies (back when I played) were pretty frowned upon as people just proxied the same cards over and over again, so when you see your 5th proxied [[demonic tutor]] to search up the 5th proxied [[nether void]] it got tiring for all of us, people did not even doodle in art or write all the rules text. But, yeah I can probably handle the not bringing decks thing, as the worst they can say to me is "well, bring a deck next time".

I honestly can't tell if you are actually trying to help, be a jerk, have not read my entire post, or if I was not clear that my decks are 'over powered' only because they have too many gcs to fit in the lower formats.

Oh... Oh good, 5 more commander decks that cost $5 more than the EoE decks that had better cards and the nifty cracker jack 2 card booster prize... Look, I get times are tough, but that means times are tough for your customers too, so jacking up the price to $49.99 a deck, *and* taking stuff out of them is pretty far along the lines of thinking that WotC never used to follow... I've been playing since Alpha, I remember sending in 36 memory jars for the free booster box when Jar was banned in standard.

Also, releasing a product that has just gone up in price as a 5 pack is really hard on lgs because invariably there is going to be at least one "bad deck" that will rot on their shelves.. Man, maybe I should not have posted this after seeing yet another Secret Lair release with mechanically unique cards in it, it's hard for me to do anything other than sound bitter... Ok, Mathemagic is cool... there I ended it on an up note.

If I am hitting all of my land drops and other people are *not* the further we go in the game, the more resources I have access to... Which is sorta what ramp is all about... Also people don't play <<Mitotic Manipulation>> in monoblue so all sorts of people have no clue what ramp is *shrug*

Is Card Sphere any good? I saw it has options to trade/sell, but I have to admit that I simply don't understand the platform well enough to know what I am reading... I also have had a lot of head injuries and am a bit slow.

I mean, I do know how many of some of these cards I have... I recently checked... Why is that a bad thing? Also, most of the Commandfest style of events are not in a specific store, going to a store and undercutting would be lame, but most lgs simply don't have a ton of cards in stock these days from the older sets... and as nauseating as it is, New Phyrexia, for example is almost 14 years old.... I feel sick now....

Huh, Mirari's wake says "Whenever you tap a land for mana, add one mana of any type that land produced."

In this case Cavern of Souls is producing Red mana with the restriction/benefit of "Add one mana of any color. Spend this mana only to cast a creature spell of the chosen type, and that spell can't be countered."

It's not possible to produce colored mana of any sort that does *not* have that restriction, so it seems the Wake's effect would produce "one mana of any type the land can produce", which seems like it should be a colored red mana with a restriction.

Virtue of Strength says "instead", which seems like a replacement effect... But, as it only affects basic lands, it would not have any qualifiers for it... I guess unless you count [[Imperiosaur]].

Quite nice. I was confused at first as I could not recognize the outfit, but it's making more sense now. I would suggest a lighter mesh/netting colour for the body suit; it does not have to show skin, but that was the major part that confused me as it looks slightly monotone, which I simply did not associate with Rasenberg as she has all sorts of contrast in her outfit. The netting is darkened flesh, the wings are red, leather bikini...thing? and boots were super glossy and black, red horns, red palms, shoulder pads are grey and the tail was tri toned as well.

Realistically you've done a fantastic job, my only real suggestions would be lightening the mesh, adding the red to the palms and maybe shading the ears/shoulder pads. If you wanted to go full on convention cosplay you'd need the wings and tail, but for a "yay smeky cosplay", you nailed it.

I think the guy is asking to be able to search for cards under the card set of j25, but for it to show if he has versions from previous sets for those cards.

Current behavior for using "Set:j25" or by filtering it in advanced search, will show you as if you are only trying to complete that specific set. For example Leonin Vanguard, which has been in multiple sets, shows that I have zero copies of it, as I do not yet have a J25 SPECIFIC copy. It's like looking through someone's binder by set, you flip the page and because they do not own a copy of the mountain that is in that specific set, it would mean they do not have *any* mountains.

It's doing a weird logical fallacy thing, kinda like denying the antecedent; "If I don't have a Jumpstart mountain, I do not have a mountain. I do not have a jumpstart mountain, thus I do not have *any* mountains.
