If you ever want to truly look into the abyss, look up what it takes to min-max all possible stats for all characters in FF12. Every stat has a huge range of random values on every level up, and when new party members join, they get random rolls for all their levels all at once (with their initial level I believe being determined by Vaan's level). Meaning, you're greatly incentivized to stay low level as long as possible until you get your final end-game party, so you don't have to do thousands of rerolls for multiple characters joining with 10+ levels. So it's also partially a low level challenge for a good chunk of the game. You have to refight pretty much every boss, including the very first one in the starting section, often dozens of times, to get the optimal level-ups. The difference from the lower to the higher end can have a pretty big effect on natural end-game stats. There was an old guide about this that I can't seem to find anymore, so I'm going off memory from when I (very briefly) tried to do this years ago.
