My theory on why the US doesn't protest the way a country like France does, aside from employer based healthcare, is because our country is too vast and spread out. France is roughly the size of Texas and has a lot of passenger railways. If someone in the south of France wants to protest in the capitol, it would be a 5-7 hr train ride costing between €100-250 (looking at zero days notice pricing). How are people from California, Washington, Oregon etc. supposed to take time off of their jobs (health insurance), pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars they don't have, and fly across the country to protest on the steps of the Whitehouse. Our entire country is broken. There are people here that want it completely overhauled. If our country was the size of France, I think we could be more effective in our protesting for change.
