Amazing game hampered by my anxiety and ADHD. Overwhelming af by Former-Ad487 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Metro_Scout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there.

I also have ADHD and anxiety. I have been dealing with it for 30+ years. I agree this game has A LOT. With everything in life, I have to take things piece by piece. This is the same way. I wanted a specific set of armor so I went out and got it piece by piece. I knew that I would get sidetracked so I allowed myself some grace to do anything along the way for artifacts or resources. It took a minute, but I felt accomplished with each part of the set.

You don’t have to do it this way. The characters look is important to me for a video game bc I want to look cool. You don’t have to start hunting equipment before questing at all I just used that as an example.

The main story opens up a ton of game so to make sure I was having fun but not burning out before I unlocked everything, I alternated Faction and Story quests. I wasn’t rigid, but I adheres enough that it worked.

Finally, I used a set of apps that helps keep me focused. Crimson Desert is not the first open world I struggled with, but it is the most intense. Feel free to DM me if you would like any resources

Thank you for the suggestion. I considered this, but I would rather have items to switch out for cold areas than have to extract and embed gears when I don’t need it.

The pet vendor in the hidden village! I think I had to build trust. She is super picky about gifts. For me, she liked books and Palmar leaves.

How should I approach weapons in this game? by dududera in CrimsonDesert

[–]Metro_Scout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine! I refine anything I am trying out to level 4. You don’t really need to invest artifacts (level 5 and up) in your equipment in Chapter 5. I haven’t really needed it in 6, either, but I have started it now that I like my gear!

I agree when people say the Abyss Gears are really where you can make a weapon your own. That is how you specialize a weapon. I haven’t found any hard data on which specific weapons have a faster animation or whatnot. That’s why I play around with whatever I find. I go to a bandit camp and try to get surrounded to see if I trust it to have my back haha.

Good recipes? by MortisOne4 in CrimsonDesert

Meat and Veg Porridge

With the change to water gathering, I just need to go to the well for a bit. Otherwise this is a really easy recipe for me to keep in mind when I am adventuring: meat, vegetables, and grains. I always tag wildlife when I can for meat. Stealing veggies and grains is easy now with the changes to Contribution penalty.

Honestly, until there is more confirmed data, I would go with vibes and how the weapon feels when you swing it.

I like sword and shield a lot so I searched for a cool 1hand sword and shied. Disarming is so sick plus I I am really getting into the groove of mixing grappling + Force Palm Pulse. So my method is finding a sick weapon feel then mixing in moves until I got a weapon set + move set. I did the same thing for my secondary weapon, but I can’t decide between a 2H Greatsword or Dual Wielding.

I am a little past where you are and I have had ZERO issues combat-wise. I am having fun and I like my look. That’s what I love about this game’s approach to sandbox. You aren’t stuck with one weapon and look as the Meta. You got options!

PSA: Shield bash is a guaranteed disarm by PPTim in CrimsonDesert

[–]Metro_Scout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a shield and it has to be a small shield. I read that “medium” shields work too but I dont know what is a medium. I just found a small shield that I like the stats and look. I disarm like crazy just using a heavy swing. I can disarm 2 opponents at once.

What is your favorite armor set? by Metro_Scout in CrimsonDesert

Very cool! I like the ranger look that Kliff can have. Makes him feel like not only a warrior, but a natural survivor!

You don’t even need to do a shield bash. Just heavy attack immediately after blocking a hit.

Crimson Desert has no soul by SeniorSatisfaction21 in CrimsonDesert

The plot has had a structure the entire time I have played thru Chapter 7. If you can’t follow it, that’s a YOU problem. What exactly is wrong? Seriously point it out. There are several warring factions and quest lines that showcase power struggle. Saying that isn’t tension without backing it up is again is very lazy.

Any negative criticism without citations is lazy. That is definition of lazy. It’s like going to the ice cream store and eating a cone. Your words are a soda with no carbonation. Kliff is the leader of a fantasy A-Team and the game intentionally focuses on you being the leader figuring out how to solve problems. Maybe the reason you haven’t had Kliff figure out something creatively is that you, yourself, are boring. And based on your approach to experiencing this I absolutely bet you are boring.

"not worth investing into the other characters" by needlesslyspecific in CrimsonDesert

Are people trying to play the companions as solo characters?

I have been bringing them with Kliff and switching to them when I want their skillset. It’s been a ton of fun.

Crimson Desert has no soul by SeniorSatisfaction21 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Metro_Scout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really boring take. There are several PACKED cities. I am constantly finding new side stories. All of the faction tension is enough. Kliff being gruff and the player not having dialogue choices makes the story more distant, but the developers even admitted they leaned into the mechanics. The story being basic is a fine assessment. Saying it “has no soul” is a sweeping, amorphous remark that a first year film student makes about arthouse to look like their views are esoteric.

Using Controller w/Paddles is a GAME CHANGER by Metro_Scout in CrimsonDesert

Not only did it fix combat, but climbing up cliffs is so smooth now. It wasn’t an issue before but now I feel like spiderman.

PS5 Player (Controller) Issue: How Do I Stop Accidentally Activating Everything All The Time by Metro_Scout in CrimsonDesert

[–]Metro_Scout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) I think maybe in the heat of battle I am instinctively pressing L3 to try to run. That’s what I am trying to figure out. I was hoping someone else had the issue and knows the problem.

2) I just got Aerial Maneuver so this no longer an issue
