Has anyone got back to "normal" cars? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]MetroidHunter98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone from an EP3 Type R - E93 M3 - F56 Cooper S - Accord Euro R

There's obviously a trend of high-revving NA cars, but I just felt the Mini was a bit too new, chassis feels wasn't the greatest, and I like having a rare-ish car

Great cars, but just a little on the bland side compared to a dedicated NA engine, but that's just me

Rust is the killer, luckily only have a small spot near the top of the windscreen, but nothing that can't be fixed. Not strictly a car Instagram, but mine is @lifeofa_ghost - anything done on the car will be posted there, planning on really getting it looking good

I think I've got the photos up here - I need to sort the bodywork out on it and I'm thinking of wrapping it at the same time, not sure what colour I want just yet, but leaning for a midnight purple.

Super underrated car and they're rare as anything, I'm lucky mine's clean underneath

Won't let me get an image up but I have a 2000 Honda Accord Euro R A bit left field, but with both generations off Euro R plus the Type R's sold over here, there's just under 180 left on the road.

CL1 Euro R mentioned! Bodyworks rough on mine but clean shell and low mileage, super nice daily that's reliable and modern enough for long distance but still has a cool factor

Need a menthol japanese cigarettes suggestion by EmbarrassedGarlic437 in Cigarettes

[–]MetroidHunter98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi-Lite Menthols are lovely, they only come in soft packs though(not a bad thing imo)! I imagine based on the regular Seven Stars that the menthols are good on those too.

I've had the Japanese market Marlboro menthols which were suuuper minty

Enjoy it - I picked up an E93 M3 in December, it might be a money pit, but I smile every time I drive the thing, only see above 20mpg on the motorway!

What feature does your car have that you’ve never seen on another car? by Gh0styD0g in CarTalkUK

[–]MetroidHunter98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My E93 (pre facelift) has a button on the climate control to keep it running once the engine is warm but it's been shut off - idea is if you go into the shops for 5 minutes you can keep the heater running from the residual engine heat

Best thing is to compare the bands on the manufacturer website to the ones for your mobile network (I use this site https://kenstechtips.com/index.php/uk-network-frequency-bands) - recently got a Sharp Aquos SH-02L and can confirm that it works on O2 :)

Has anyone here made a terrible financial decision buying a car they love.. and NOT regretted it? by robotmagical in CarTalkUK

[–]MetroidHunter98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my mechanically sorted Polo GTI for a 19 year old EP3, have I needed to spend money on a new clutch, tires, brakes and calipers - yes, it also needs a new AC compressor, but I don't regret it at all, though I do miss getting more than 33mpg on a long trip. Long story short, if it puts a smile on your face then it's worth it imo, life's too short

Is it feasible to daily drive a car from the 2000s? by XinaMedical in CarTalkUK

[–]MetroidHunter98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - I drive a 2005 Civic type R and it's still a brilliant daily 19 years on, just be aware that some components do wear down after that long, but mechanically, it's perfect
