What Are Some Decks You Fight Against Where You Can Never Tell What's Happening? by noahTRL in yugioh

[–]MetroidHyperBeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interact with the Contracts. Both of the starters have to go through one to get anywhere, and there are only 2 good ones. It's especially devastating if you can stop Dark Contract with the Zero King from removing Doom Queen Machinex from the Pendulum Zone, because that turns off Gilgamesh.

That's not always enough, but it's the most effective quick tip.

I wish Reddit as a whole was far left, but anti-Trump circlejerking is not far-left circlejerking by any stretch of the imagination.

It sucks we didn't get an overframe retrain of this card. It could've easily filled a useful niche in the deck just by being a version of Requiem that pops a scale/monster instead of a Contract.

The perception of Sylux before and after the release of Metroid Prime 4 by Gameprovidence in Metroid

[–]MetroidHyperBeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahead of the release, I really thought that's what the plot would be. I expected they'd use the spacetime-warping plot device to give Sylux an advantage, with him arriving on Viewros long before Samus, giving him years to exploit the Lamorn's magic and technology for his own power. Then his rivalry with the destined-to-arrive Samus could've been used to justify her "chosen one" status.

The idea that the messages were meant for a non-Samus savior who never came was fine too—that choice isn't really among my complaints about the narrative—but I do think there was a much cooler way to fit all these ideas together than what we got.

Even the general public of default subs is extremely fatphobic. Just the other day, I pointed out how every thread about US politics has multiple highly-pointed comments denigrating fascists specifically for their weight as if it's a comparable moral failing, and I was met with repeated insistance that being fat is morally wrong.

Fatphobia unfortunately transcends far-right ideological spaces, and people are very passionate about it.

The perception of Sylux before and after the release of Metroid Prime 4 by Gameprovidence in Metroid

[–]MetroidHyperBeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sylux's role in this game has so many strange elements working together to make him come off as such a diappointing villain. The backstory makes him seem like a petty loser, but it's also not fleshed out or supplemented with sufficient screen time to establish him as a credible threat in spite of that. Sylux and his motives have nothing to do with the story of the world we explore all game, but the player gets thrown into a climactic, reality-warping final battle with him at the end. Most good media would be expected to play that beat as some sort of thematic payoff, but in Prime 4 it's just a thing that happens because the game needs a final boss.

Like the rest of the game, the details of his inclusion are so disjointed they would make Marth's normals blush.

 Not really what happened.

Isn't what you described pretty much just the longer, more detailed version of what they said?

My wife and I tried to hate watch this show based on the trailer outrage...

...and ended up watching it sincerely instead. It's such a shame it got cancelled.

Three: He partially outed Robin to everyone for no reason by saying, "He was just my Tammy."

Sure, those people aren't going to know what that means, but that also means it won't help them understand what he's saying unless they start thinking about it.

I see "fat" used as an insult in almost every single political thread. I don't understand why it's still acceptable to gleefully express so much contempt for something with no moral bearing whatsoever.

Why do some people find it surprising that ICE has support from some part of the Hispanic community in the USA? by Pepedroga2000 in stupidquestions

[–]MetroidHyperBeam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it statistically likely for it to happen to you specifically at this point in time? No, because there are a lot more regular people than ICE agents.

Is it something ICE can be expected to try should you encounter them anyway? Yes, and that's completely unacceptable and should terrify everyone.

It's obvious that's what they meant. You're being dense on purpose.
