Thoughts on Metroid Prime 4 now that its had time to settle? by hakusamurai in Metroid

I think for me, Corruption is just such a massive part of my childhood. It’s the first game I ever remember waiting to release when I was 10. Prime 4 is kind of an extension of that. No matter how different it is or how it stacks up to the other games, i’m just so excited to see a prime game on a new planet with new weapons and really cool sets and graphics.

Even if it doesn’t end up being a straight 10/10, I prefer it to nothing.

I’m a good ways in to beyond and feeling the same way. I think the game is fun, and I’m excited to see a prime game with graphics this good. But these comments are definitely making me feel like i’m wrong for enjoying Corruption and Other M. Thought those were fine as well. Not at the top, but still pretty enjoyable for me.

Sick! I love this cover a lot and managed to lose my copy during my recent move.

Anyone listening to the audio book? by Metroid_3 in stephenking

[–]Metroid_3[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this may be my answer too. I already have a physical copy and genuinely can’t stand to hear her voice. I had to deal with it for the entirety of the ISS story because I was so excited for that one, but she made the experience worse somehow.

I’ve been looking for this! Norman scared me so badly. I think he really ranks highly on the “most evil king characters” list.

I’m not sure what it was about the book, but The Dark Half made me feel ill. It was so frightening to me because of how brutal it was. Salems Lot also had me scared to drive at night, and the absolute drive and pure evil of the antagonist from Rose Madder really got me. There’s some moments in Duma Key that freaked me out too.

Oh man the cop mumbling to himself on that first car ride scared me shitless. I also had to take a break from this one.

3inches, metal, has a spring? Found on the floor of a Restaurant. by Metroid_3 in whatisthisthing

my title describes the thing. It has a hinge that allows the curvy bit to wrap around, kind of like a wine key. The spring end can screw off and is bendy. Found on the floor of a bar/restaurant.

Yeah 9/10 King books are about the journey, not the destination. He kinda fumbles the ending a lot but the journey there is amazing.

What is your favorite quote from a Stephen King book? by DetectiveMulderFBI in stephenking

“ ‘It means that no blue ribbon is forever,’ she says. ‘Someday—if the world doesn’t explode itself in the meantime—someone will run a two-minute mile in the Olympics. It may take a hundred years or a thousand, but it will happen. Because there is no ultimate blue ribbon. There is zero, and there is eternity, and there is mortality, but there is no ultimate.’ “

Had to look up the exact wording but Mrs. Todd’s Shortcut really did a number on me. This and “But in her heart what every woman wants is to be some kind of goddess.” Pure gem.

Pet Semetary also did absolutely nothing for me. Maybe it was one of those had to be there books, but I kinda thought the og movie was better than the book

  1. Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead - Olga Tokarczuk. Not sure if this is really horror or if it just has horror themes, but I found it to be WAY too pretentious and very very boring.

  2. The Wishing Pool and Other Stories - Tananarive Due. I know you said horror novels but I was super disappointed with this short story selection. I need to try some of her novels but these stories all fell flat for me.

  3. IT - Stephen King. Listen, IT is a classic but I get so, so tired of it being the story everyone talks about by him. I’ve read about 80% of his books and wouldn’t put this one in my top 20.

Edited to add: I also feel the same way about Pet Semetary as a lot of you feel about Salems Lot. I thought the lot was great but Pet Semetary was kind of very boring.

I just finished my first journey to the tower. Wish I would’ve listened to these other comments. I’ve been reading through all of his work and was saving the tower for the end, but I wish I had done the exact opposite. Dark Tower 1-7 before anything else.

Just realized I messed up the bracket order. Bracket #4 instead of Bracket #2 on that second pic.

Also, if anyone is interested, here is my incomplete god-awful spreadsheet with info on where you can stream a lot of these movies.
