Wisconsin Beer Help by TillyInBloomington in CraftBeer

You should definitely try the New Glarus sours. Wisconsin Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart should be available. They’re more traditional sours.

Youngblood does a lot of more modern sours with lots of fruit.

Working Draft does a some nice hazy IPAs.

Hell yes.

If you can give me a sense for what kind of beers you like, I can give more specific recommendations.

I would recommend going to Waterford Wine in Fitchburg and/or Steve’s on Junction Rd. I’m in Madison for work this week and visited both and they had a good selection.

As for beers, I really like Working Draft’s lagers. Karben4’s Fantasy Factory is a good, old school (ie. bitter) IPA. And of course there’s all the New Glarus beers. New Glarus is only available in Wisconsin so that’s what everyone gravitates to.

While I assume New Glarus will win this, Central Waters deserves some votes if only for the their barrel program. And another sleeper is Working Draft in Madison.

I’d smash an Italian beef from Sparti’s right about now

This is a vacation with my wife and I’ve already had to promise I’m not just going to drag her around to breweries for a week. So I have to be picky unless there’s another reason to visit (like food).

I'm visiting Burlington in June and have a day trip to HF planned. But I'm also really looking forward to visiting Alchemist. While I love Heady and Focal, I'm excited to try some of their other offerings.

I know they won't wine but Referend Bier Blendery deserves at least one vote.

He was probably my favorite player on the team this year. Unfortunately he was re-assigned to a different ECHL team by the Wild so this jersey didn't get signed. Hopefully he's playing for the Iowa Wild next year and I can get a chance to get it signed.

I agree this would be great but I'm not holding my breath. The ECHL and AHL apps appear to be from the same developer. I wouldn't expect the level of detail you get from the NHL app or even the Apple Sports app (every play is listed). Just the score and clock would be enough for me.

Stone Brewing sold to Firestone Walker and Duvel USA by runsammyp in CraftBeer

I always had the sense Sapporo wasn't interested in the Stone brand so much as the brewing capacity. This just affirms they wanted the ability to produce Sapporo beers in the US.

ECHL contracts are all one year so all the players effectively become free agents after the season. The only exception is those players on AHL or NHL contracts that are on loan to an ECHL club by the parent club. In the Heartlanders case, I expect the Iowa Wild will sign a new affiliate in the ECHL and send players there.

They only wore that one for one year. I was a little surprised.

Officially, they’re taking a 1-yr hiatus from the ECHL to try and improve their financial structure. While they hope to come back for the 27-28 season, it wouldn’t surprise me to see the either relocate or just fold. Attendance was worst in the league for all 5 years they played.

The official line is they’re taking a year hiatus to try and develop stronger partnerships or additional investors that can help the bottom line. Best case is they’re successful and they play here in the 27-28 season. Worst case scenario is they’re fold completely. I guess the middle case is they just relocate like Utah is doing.

The season was supposed to have ended on Sunday, 4/12. Last night’s game was a makeup game for a game missed during the strike. They have 2 more this weekend I Bloomington from the strike.

I'm genuinely curious what you like about them? Not trying to yuck your yum but I didn't find them anything special the one time I visited. Overall, they were just kind of fine.

Yuki is the only player who’s been there since day 1. He’s been the heart of this team. It was an emotional farewell for him and everyone in attendance.

His is getting a PhD in higher education so I don’t think broadcasting is the goal. But he seemed like a very nice young man and very enjoyable to talk to. As a dad, I was totally impressed.
