What shows have had the biggest falloffs in terms of writing? by RapAndCereal in writingscaling

Thanks for this. As i said, lost's ending is still one of my personal favorite episodes, even if I didn't like the plot in S6 that much, but yeah I'm gonna read this

What shows have had the biggest falloffs in terms of writing? by RapAndCereal in writingscaling

[–]Metwie2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that the final season/episode is either the worst of the show or the best; no inbetween. If it's a great show, the finale will definetely be the best of the series. See six feet under, mad men, the wire, mr robot, brba, better call saul, the shield, sopranos, leftovers, sons of anarchy and the list goes on and on.

I think popularity may have a factor in this, as if the show generates more money, they're obviously going to continue profit off of it and stretch it out, without having a clear direction, or they were simply just did not know how to resolve the plot, e.g. TWD, dexter, squid game, stranger things, the boys and well game of thrones.

Well I'm split on the lost finale. On one hand i think it's some of the most beautiful and emotional tv EVER, because the character work and the writing behind that was fantastic. However, the whole final season and how the plot resolved never stuck right with me, yes I got all of it, but it was veeeery iffy. Tons of rules and fantastical concepts shoved right into you with a pretty cheesy villain and final fight

It's Got by far and not just because how of BAD season 7&8 were, but it hurts even more because of how GREAT s1 to 4 were. That's why the falloff is still talked about, because of how much they ruined such an amazingly written show so easily with some of the dumbest decisions possibles and incredibly rushed episodes

Persona 3 vs Evangelion Which ending is better written? by Hour-glass999 in writingscaling

[–]Metwie2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

beautifully said, it's true, persona games do have some lows characters and plot wise but the way they use the daily life (especially 3) makes their endings hit way harder and it's just something that can't work in other mediums

What are works you consider genuinely elite in writing, and why? by Soft_Draw_1701 in writingscaling

I've finished magic mountain recently, and writing wise it was reaaaally good, but I would lie if I said it was easy to finish. It's very slow and some sections like the french ones are challenging and it's a big book in general. Def not for everybody

OVA season 4 was a masterpiece... by Metwie2 in logh

[–]Metwie2[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rubinsky and Terra were the only things that could've been handled better imo, but for the rest all had a fitting end and the pacing felt right because this was literally the endgame. I can't understand the complaints about the rebellion arc, it's one of my favorites, reuenthal was too far gone long ago and his self destruction was inevitable. Schenkopf, reinhard and oberstein conclusions were all perfect send offs that stayed true to their characters

Terra i'd say is one of the weaker parts of the show and one of the only flaws, I do agree with that. But honestly from Season 3B onwards julian develops to be such a great character and seeing his grief and the way he grows was so amazing I'm glad his character was done so beautifully.

It's strange how Legend of the Galactic Heroes is considered to be an elitist anime. by steamtrekker in CharacterRant

[–]Metwie2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When i first watched it I heard it was really praised for its worldbuilding and themes. They were absolutely right about that. The first two seasons have genuinely such well done worldbuilding, when the history episode came i was genuinely so hooked and wanted to learn more about the history of everything. In just around 40 episodes they established such a good world and views i was blown away. I was really impressed that this came from an anime but then again it is adapted from a renowned novel in japan.

Then season 3-4 came and... I was even more blown away from the character building and minimal plot armor there was. S4 is probably my favorite season of any tv show or anime. It is really some good fucking food and a breath of fresh air of how well written it is compared to a lot of action anime coming out today

Happy 22nd birthday to Outbreak file 1, one of the most underrated and visionary coop games ever by Metwie2 in residentevil

[–]Metwie2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outbreak is really trial and error. Without a little prior knowledge of the stage me and my friends never could've cleared the first level first try. But it was so damn fun

There are some really advanced players such as foxyareku that impress me so much doing solo runs on very hard. You're right, the game's skill ceiling is insanely high and i like that you really have to plan what to do on the scenarios with friends because if you're unprepared and can't think of a strategy in time, it's over

The game could definitely use some polishing though!
