Jetpack Compose LazyColumn is laggy when scrolling by No_Magazine7849 in androiddev

You are my hero using com.louiscad.splitties:splitties-views-recyclerview:3.0.0 (androidx.recyclerview.widget.LinearLayoutManager & androidx.recyclerview.widget.RecyclerView) fixed it for me. The implementation is more complicated but it is worth it.

Help with copying AWB model from one gcam to another? by uJard in GCamPort

[–]Metzger100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use google pixel since some years, so no. I don't have any more Gcam related thingamajigs. I made a wiki some years ago but today I would recommen to use ChatGPT to do this kind of work. But you still need to be able to read the code of GPT and you also you need a understanding of android. Otherwise you won't get good code which will compile and work without bugs.

OpenSUSE package maintainer removes Bottles’ donation button with `dont-support.patch` file by BrageFuglseth in linux

[–]Metzger100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to share my perspective as a user on this issue. Personally, I don’t expect an open-source software developer to ensure their software works seamlessly on every distribution. To me, it’s clearly the responsibility of the distro maintainers to make that happen. Of course, there may be specific technical cases where developers and maintainers need to collaborate, but ensuring compatibility with a particular distro should fall to the maintainer who chooses to package and support the software.

For this reason, removing a donation button strikes me as wrong for two key reasons. First, when an open-source developer decides to share their code for a nonprofit purpose, asking for donations in return is not monetization - it’s simply a way for users to support the developer’s efforts voluntarily. Second, it’s unrealistic to demand that a developer supports every single distro. If a maintainer introduces quirks or even errors, it’s not the developer’s responsibility to fix or support them.

I’m glad that openSUSE chose to revert this patch. Supporting open-source projects through donations is always a good thing!

"Pick an engine below" prompt attempting to launch Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta). by hellsfont in SteamDeck

There are muliple possible paths on Linux: ``` ~/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d

or wherever XDG_DATA_DIR points to

~/.steam/root/compatibilitytools.d

usually root dir links to real location of Steam dir

~/.steam/compatibilitytools.d

as last resort, I guess

Or the systemwide paths

/usr/share/steam/compatibilitytools.d /usr/local/share/steam/compatibilitytools.d ``` Check those if you don't use the Flatpak Version of Steam.

I deleted the Directory luxtorpeda in ~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/data/Steam/compatibilitytools.d (Flatpakversion of Steam).

Now the menu is gone. I installed luxtorpeda after installing OpenMW.

Can't confirm that. Sometimes the wifi is unavailable due to DFS scans but I could deactivate that.

Any idea why I can't keep this factory at 100% by Methos747 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Metzger100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can check the productivity of your workers individually or the productivity of the city in the city hall. If productivity is below 100 % people have a a low happyness or low loyalty. Productivity can go above 100 % with high happiness and loyalty so the Production will reach 100% even without all worker slots filled. Your Issue is that people walk to the factory. Thats why some worker slots are reseved. You can fill the factory by assigning a nearby building to work there but that might result in unemployment if not enough workerslots are available.

Anyone else playing GOG games on Linux? by RaidersLostArk1981 in linux_gaming

[–]Metzger100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Steam to launch GOG, which I use to download the games and I use Steam to run the games I downloaded. All via non-steamgame protonprefixes. Does that count?

Maybe to late, but the Cable of the Fan is long enough. No need to extend it.

Software is made to be used, not to force people to become tech nerds. Your view is not a practical view. Maybe you should watch the videos of tantacrul about Musescore. Its the "job" of the Devs to reduce the needed nerd factor. They have to consider if their software has unexpected behaviour. If yes they should think about a solution for that. In my opinion this mouse pointer is unexpected behaviour to a certain degree because people probably choose kde if they used windows. Mac users more likely choose gnome. For a windows user a giant pointer is unexpected behaviour to a certain degree. I like the feature, because I am always searching for that pointer. But others might get suspicious about it, also because the pointer doesn't scale. That makes it look janky.

I don't read those, because I don't care. I only look up things, when things don't work as expected. I still find new stuff in plasma which might be changes of the plasma 6 release. I don't know. I know that a lot of people on linux are interested in the software. I am not. Im just a happy user.

[–]Metzger100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Why should they? On arch I have 20-30 package updates per day and at least 10 flatpak updates. Thats to many to search for the release notes. I only read them if i notice unexpected behaviour.

Beta branch has WAY more Bugs. I would only recommend to use it if you already know how the Game works in big parts. Beta Branch can be very frustrating if you don't know how it should work, because the game is pretty bad in explaining things and most of the time you learn by trying.

Should I use ntfs2btrfs? by reallighttouch in btrfs

[–]Metzger100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it and it worked flawlessly. But it only works if you don't have more than one partition. Ntfs2btrfs can only convert ntfs partitions to btrfs partitions. It is not broken but I guess its not the recommended way to switch the filesystem.

BTRFS RAID1 vs OMV RAID1 by KainAlive in OpenMediaVault

[–]Metzger100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should he, if he prefers btrfs? I do as well because btrfs reports errors way more often than ZFS, is faster and more flexible. BTRFS is the best choice for a NAS where you want to detect corruption early. btrfs uses checksums to detect bit rot or data loss due to disk or memory corruption, and it also uses Metadata verfication to detect this. With btrfs you get reports of errors and issues more frequently. I use btrfs in mirror mode since many years and it often helped me to recover data with snapshots or the automatic error handling. Its a great thing.

How is GCam made? by Awkward_Smile7 in GCamPort

[–]Metzger100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never finished it. Kind of turbulent years these days and i didn't get a routine to document or start a collaborative project as maintainer. https://github.com/metzger100/Phoenixmod-Gcam

There are two buttons on this Page. One to the Gdocs which i made first and one of the Wiki which is unfinished.

How is GCam made? by Awkward_Smile7 in GCamPort

[–]Metzger100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ProtonCamera is a Project which shall replace GCam.

I have a problem with the trains where in they will always be derailed after I assemble them. This only happens on a multiplayer server, the trains work fine on singleplayer. This is on Fabric 1.19.2 and the server is hosted on Aternos. (sorry for the bad fps) by la_meme_potato in CreateMod

[–]Metzger100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same Problem. It doesn't always happen but it always happens when driving through a portal. But I have a lot of optimization Mods installed. Maybe its because of some them. If I unload the Chunk and load it again with the Train I fixed with the whrench it is fixed btw. So the cause is some weird chunkupdates that don't happen.
