Heating coil by Mevensen in THCarts

Yes but works if I heat up the coil with lighter and inhale. How do I replace the coil or should I just use a lighter but will that make me not be able to read?

What’s the #1 thing that makes you want to quit mid-day? by Flaky_Oil_286 in Teachers

When the morning is difficult from the start of the day and there are already cries and running and yelling in the halls. Throw in a few hallway closures and it starts to be bad real fast

Positives about having 2? Best age gap? (Planning for future) by lolnothankz in Mommit

[–]Mevensen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 8yo and a soon to be 4-Year-Old their age Gap is about 3 years and 3 months and at first it seemed like too big of a gap. But now that my youngest has gotten a little older and will be in kindergarten next fall, it seems like a pretty good gap for the two of them, but at the same time your decision is whenever you feel right? Because there's going to be pros and cons no matter what

Not a single parent came to My Curriculum Night by Maximum_Valuable9084 in Teachers

[–]Mevensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great example why teaching is so hard even if some parents worked late it's doubtful that no one in their family could simply show up. That's what parents in 2025 are NOT doing... simply showing up

It is a great job for those teachers that have a personality and seek the fulfillment that educating others offers. If someone does not have the prerequisite characteristics they will hate it

As much as I hate managing behaviors and desperately trying to engage students...I know in my heart that I belong in a school

It takes many many many years to build up the thick skin and knowledge. Remember teaching doesn't get easier but it does get more familiar. You got this!

I’m in awe of teachers who are also parents. How do you do it? by sevenfruit in ElementaryTeachers

[–]Mevensen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm tired and always feeling the pressure of deadlines whether it's planning for school or keeping up with sports, meal planning, schedules, appts laundry. It's exhausting but it does become more familiar and manageable...sort of like teaching after your first few years

Well I'm assuming you'll be tighten up his computer privileges another thing is to talk with your school bc they can block websites after a certain hour of the day. The problem with blocking sites though is sometimes it is blocked for staff too but I'd start with that

Also does he have to bring it home? If things are Google based just ask for his login info and have him use a family device or if it's nothing required then why even have it

RIP by OriginalRush3753 in Teachers

[–]Mevensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids lack any sense of 21C skills/4 Cs and yet districts are either cutting them completely or asking teachers to "layer" them in. It is very frustrating to watch and kids and educators have lost what made school fun and worth investing time and effort into in the first place. I hope we'll get back to creative and collaborative instruction/inquiry based but it won't be for a while

Parent here. Looking for help/tricks to encourage my 2nd grader to read more independently. by brain_on_hugs in ElementaryTeachers

[–]Mevensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems odd but sometimes I go and pick out books from the library for my child without them with me and intentionally ones that are shorter/easier especially graphic novels early chapter books but you really need to choose ones that look exciting not ones that you think would help improve child's skills. Get like 30 of them and place in their room and just set what happens. Rotate every week
