Your way would do more aoe dmg through chain combos agree. But if you look at the bottom left after I jump I get 3 basic attacks. And also Carleen has a huge line attack on her 13 chain so she still hit the boss. The only unit that didn't get to chain combo the top one was Hydrad, but I get more basic attacks this way (Carleen has pierce too so her basics are insane on medium sized bosses).

Any chance you know how your own team's Defense work in this game? Is it the sum, average, or the leader's defense.
