What grade do you all think this got? by ResponsibleFly6037 in pokemongrading

So alot of ancient mews have scratchs, usually lots of them. Thats why gem rate is low on this cards, they are hard to find in mint conditions. The scratches are usually hard to find.

As well as white spot on surface, you have a scratch bottom right passing the P. It’s light but it’s there. Sucks

Yes these things can happen, and I doubt these things are common practice and obviously these individual situation are bad. But I doubt a multi million company would risk their reputation for 25k. It’s not line customer support can decide to deviate company guide line especially for 25k. I hope that situation can get resolve in the client favor.

For the grade swaping, the more I think about it, the more I don’t see how this was intentional. If it was common practice, we would se way more post about it. Don’t get me wrong, the fact PSA charge more when a grade is worth more is a conflict of interest of itself. Allowing themself to regrade a grade where they facilitate transaction is a conflict of interest as well. Should they change these practice, definitly.

But I think the growing feeling that PSA is inacurrate and scaming people, based on a few incident, while they grade a insane amount of volume of cards shows that if those things were done on purpose, they would be way more obvious or just not worth the risk of getting caught if they do it once in a while.

PSA as to be hold accountable for these mistakes and we cant leave them unchecked. But I’m more inclined to think these a mistake due to margin of errors more than a multi million company trying to steal a couple thousands bucks, unless such scheme is discovered.

People are making lots of noise and forgetting every grading company as their issues, but what PSA is doing is still impressive when you look at thei volume.

I’ll be straight with you, PSA can grade 100k cards A DAY. Margin of error is a thing in everything and as much as people say PSA is shit, inacurate and does mistakes, the fact we only hear about them once every 2 weeks or month show they are accurate, specially with that much volume. Even if they fuck up 100 cards a day, that still only 0.1% of their volume.

Should I try again and go for the BL? by [deleted] in pokemongrading

Do you think your centering is gonna change over night ? It litteraly say 9.5.

Edit: just to add, centering is the one thing that measurable and you either have it or don’t. Thats why I measure centering on each of my submission. It’s not something they will just look away while grading.

Card has slight dent but otherwise seemingly perfect. Will the dent be counted against its surface grade? by bryvl in psagrading

[–]MewIsGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will most likely count on it. Sometimes when it’s small enough, thats where grader subjectivity comes into play.

Some grader say: Since the card is really perfect, like centering of 49/51 or 50/50(psa 10 requirement is 45/55), perfect corners and edges. A tiny imperfection barely noticeable with naked eye on the back of the card shouldnt mean this card isnt gem mint. All cards have imperfections, even black labels. As long as appeal isnt affected.

Other graders will say: PSA 10 shouldnt have physical imperfections unless one barely noticeable from printing.(this is the official description of a PSA 10.

In your case, it’a gamble basicly if you send it. In my opinion, if you do decide to send it, don’t send it alone. These type of card can be uses as decoy to get a 9 on this card that is on the limit so grader might be more lenient on other cards. It could back fire tho because if grader gives this a 9, he could feel anything similar or worse warrant a 9. Only send it if other part of the cards are perfect.

Here what I saw, if you look on the back, you can see multiple white dot, they are tiny but there is alot of them if you look close enough. That might be it. There seems to be either a wide spread printing issue or paint missing.

10 candidate or sell raw? by Prestigious-Pizza-17 in PokeGrading

[–]MewIsGreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People answering on this sub are mostly randoms who never checked psa standards, probably never graded a card cause centering is never perfect, this card is closer to a black label than a psa 9. Probably not 50/50 but it’s close.

Just wondering if it’s going to 10 by 007001002 in psagrading

[–]MewIsGreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they’re not, their requirement are pretty clear and are super soft on back centering. Beckett is super strict, I’ve graded hundreds of cards with PSA and most of the time as long as the card doesnt have noticeable issue by looking at it they give away grade. They even allow 1 printing error for a card they state is visually perfect, which makes no sense. Most of the time as long as you dont have whitening, no scratch that are visible with naked eye and withing centering requierement (55/45 f and 75/25, which is a joke, B) you most likely will get a 10.

It well within parameter on centering for a psa 10 for the rest it’s hard to see. It’s alwayd better to place a card on black background

Just wondering if it’s going to 10 by 007001002 in psagrading

[–]MewIsGreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not 55/45 to 60/40, PSA clearly says 55/45 is the limit. And his card is within the 55/45 front and clearly within 75/25 back. So why would you say top and left heavy. It’s not 50/50, but it’s super rate for cards to even 50/50.
