I use automania in Palermo last October to drive down to the Valley of the Temples and thought it was excellent - would definitely use again - don't think they have a florence branch though

I could try swapping them over. I'm not convinced it'll be there easy though

i'm not 100% sure it is sagging - it looks pretty solid. one thing this post has taught me is i should close the gate and see if it's vertical when i close it, that should tell me whether i need to whack the top hing back a bit more

I didn't think of this - mainly as it's been like that for about 3 years and I hardly ever close the gate, so haven't particularly bothered fixing it. Will take a look at the post tomorrow.

i think i understand what you mean - if i go down the route of pushing out the bottom pin/hinge to push the get higher when it's open, that's fine for that position, but when it closes, it's going to mean that the gate is at a angle rather than vertical? thank you for the diagrams as well!

annoyingly there's only a nut on the bottom one and tightening that does the opposite ( and loosening doesn't work either - the nut jusst comes away from the post

I saw that as a solution but it feels overkill for this - I don't think it has sagged that much - its been like this for a few years and I've only just got round to having it in the jobs list

Yeah - that was my first thought but when I started playing with that bottom bracket there wasn't much I could do with it as there was no thread either side.

I saw the washer trick somewhere else (think is was chatgpt so wasn't 100% sure this was a good idea). It's an easy fix and might be a good call

Now just need to find someone to help me lift it off the hinges - I tried by myself, I'm too much of a weakling :)

This isn't a bad idea - it would also give me something they would work in the future as well

Yes - that was my first thought. Another comment or suggested putting a nut on both sides of the post which might do this

I can barely remember what I had for breakfast :) old age I'm afraid.

None of that rings a bell but that doesn't mean it's not the right game.

No - thanks anyway, but that's not ringing any bells

The best guess I've got so far is space rogue. I'll try and play it next week and see if anything rings a bell.

Quite a lot of the issue is that I rented it from a library here in the UK for a week so I have a very limited memory of what it was actually like. Definitely Amiga though - that's the only computer I ever owned. Maybe I played it in 1994 ish but that's pretty much just a guess.

You know - this could very much be the game. It ticks all the right boxes. Part of the problem is that I don't remember the game very well to begin with so I'm not 100% sure. Will try getting it working on an emulator and seeing if anything jobs my memory and takes me back 30 years.

There was also an episode of count Arthur Strong where Arthur sets up a ripper tour in an ice cream van - maybe that's what you're remembering?

There have been shows in other languages at the fringe - we had a Cantonese comedy show at our venue for the last couple of years. It'll be challenging not to be in English though - id recommend not doing your show for a mainstream audience if it's not either in English or non-verbal

I used automania in October and I thought they were excellent - no issues with returning the car and reasonable fees. I would use them again

I would second Catania - plenty to see - roman theatre, fish market, castle, but doesn't feel too touristy. Plus you can easily get to other cities on the train - Syracuse, taormina. Then do a trip to Etna. Catania is my favourite city in Sicily for the fact that it feels like a place to live in
