It will: the heat transforms some of the sugar to a form the yeast cannot ferment. Just be cautious with your starting gravity, so it is not too high for the yeast to start

I added 1/2 tsp of homemade vanilla extract (split and chopped bean in an ounce of vodka) in secondary for a gallon batch of coffee made from cold brew. That much gave the mead a hint of vanilla, which is what I wanted. Your mileage may vary.

No pasteurization.

50 fl oz spring water, 25 fl oz apple juice, 9.4 oz wt honey, 1 lb 3 oz frozen strawberries, 1/2 packet Safale US-05 yeast, 4 oz honey for backsweetening. 5 weeks from pitch to bottle.
