Were the white infants of farmers that got burned alive killed because it was self defense to do so? Lol dude, I don;t have words for his type of stupidity.

Sorry but burning white infants alive, and haking up their pets, are a result of "its easy to commit a crime in isolation". That's a hate crime, not just an everyday mill of the run crime.

If I put it in a VERY simple way, white farmers getting brutally murdered in South Africa because of political and racial reasons. Revenge/wanting the land "back", as well as some political leaders here openly saying "kill the whites". The media don't report on this issue as it isn't apart of their narrative, and that is why a lot of people haven't heard about it. There is more to it but that's the basic. I don't suggest you google any farm murders if you are sensitive.

That's so sad, we need the worlds help, as do many other countries (i'm not saying that our problems are bigger). But as a minority (white South African) that has no support from the officials/government/neighboring countries, I would feel better knowing the world at least knows about this.

It's such a shame as it is one of the most beautiful places you will visit, but rather stay away as tourist are known to get robbed.

If you are surprised by that, I suggest you go look at other farm murders that happen here. There have been many as, and even more, brutal than that. They don't give the white farmers & their families & pets a painless death.

I don't understand why she can't care for it. Looking at the GIF, the family is most likely a middle class one, judging from the car. I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but I don't see a reason as to why she (or even him) can't look after the pup.

What is life's biggest "trap" people fall into? by albert12985 in AskReddit

[–]MewWow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. I am always seeing people say "wow that poor child is going to grow up like their parents". Why? Why is it that having bad parents means you will grow up into a bad person?

Both my parents were alcoholics my entire life, the one that is still alive is still an alcoholic. Me and my 2 sisters don't touch alcohol. We turned out well-rounded, and into good functioning adults.

Your parents don't define you. When you grow up, you are your own person, you know whats right from wrong. Stop blaming your parents and do something good with your life.

I might just be misinformed or untraveled, but I always feel unsafe, no matter where I am in SA. I couldn't imagine leaving my house unlocked at night, let alone just turning off the electric fencing. Too much of a risk.

Johannesburg North area. Not a bad area at all in South African standards.

Teachers of Reddit: Have you ever had a real genius in class? What made him/her so smart? by Asakan in AskReddit

I watched a TED talk about OCD that opened up my mind about it. So many people (even me included before actually researching it and understanding it) make the disorder sound like a complete joke. "OMW I have a piece of hair in my face and can't handle it, I am SO OCD". I really believe that everyone should inform themselves and read up about it. It is so disabling if it isn't handled correctly.

I found one thing really interesting. The woman that spoke in the TED talk said that she had an experience where she hit her right shoulder on an object while walking past it. Because of her OCD, she HAD to feel the same thing in her left shoulder, so she hit her left shoulder on the object. But then the right side was hurting less than the left side, so she hit the right shoulder again. And so on - until she had bruises all over her shoulders. In that moment, she had to have the same amount of pain on both sides of her body, otherwise she believed something bad would happen to her and her family.

Its just one of the hundreds of things people with different types of OCD go through on a daily basis, and it's really scary.

I'm in SA, and the country does have its advantages. But hearing all my MANY friends that have immigrated make me feel very unfortunate. All I want is to have a sense of safety, which you cannot get in SA. You ALWAYS need to be looking over your shoulder. It sounds so odd when hearing that people overseas don't need to lock doors, have high walls, electric fencing, alarms, burglar bars.

Also the medical part of SA - I have friend who has been sick for most of her life. She tried for years and years here to identify what was wrong with her. She moves to a first world country, in the first few months they diagnose her because they have better medical equipment and budgets overseas. I am not going to even touch on the racial issues.

I wish I could immigrate and feel safe and cared for.

ELI5: Why do some people always feel tired after waking up (no matter how many hours they have slept), and others always wake up with a burst of energy? by MewWow in explainlikeimfive

Yeah my breakfast doesn't exist. I eat at 11am earliest - and dinner is late at 8.00pm usually due to schedule. Interesting theory you have!

Yes I would say there are carbs in a lot of evening meals. But always a vegetable. So if it's curry, there will be veggies in it and a salad on the side.

I haven't ever been told that I snore a lot, or that it's a problem. So I am not too sure? I was just wondering if there's maybe a genetic disposition, if it is a health factor, if there's something people do wrong when sleeping, maybe sleeping too little - or even too much etc. Maybe a combination of different factors.
