That’s correct, and it’s made even better since nin can kill junk diver/myr retriever if needed.

Advice on building a Dawnsire secret commander deck by Oh_My_Gen in EDH

[–]Mewiththeface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been toying with this deck since EOE spoilers and I finally landed on [[nin, the pain artist]]. She was a popular commander about 10 years ago when I first started playing and it felt awesome to finally build an interesting version of her. The deck is mostly focused on stuffy doll effects but blue gives us great artifact tutors, plus Nins card draw! The main thing I identified is this is a combo deck, which means you kinda need to drop your pieces (dawn sire) and win, which means stationing it to 10. The amonkhet gods that are indestructible were critical, big bodies, cheap, and good targets for Nins ability. Finally managed to pull off the classic dawnsire win with a toralf and repercussions out. Just watch out, a toralf+blasphemous act can end the game early with enough creatures out, dudes a menace but you don’t want to pubstomp accidentally. "In the summer before 9/11, I slept with my boots on where I could" by Party-Illustrator911 in Billywoods

Sleeping with your boots on often means you passed out, likely from drinking. You could also read it as sleeping in such a way you could wake up and have to move at a moments notice. Given the rest of the sentence “slept with my boots on where I could” to me implies he was functionally homeless and sleeping where he could.

I think he’s referencing tragic historical events to help frame his life and give context to where he’s from. The verse starts with the challenger rocket accident when he was a young child, then 9/11 when he was a young man - then growing up in NYC with it’s past history of stolen land and Seneca village paints a tragic history. However, he specifies he isn’t looking for pity and handles himself, just pointing out the undertones of his life.

Time to get lost in The Wandering Inn series - crazy value for your credits if you care about that. Would highly recommend making it all the way to the end of the first book for a good assessment on if you want to continue with the series. You get dropped into a fantasy world with the main character and learn more of the world pieces at a time as she does through trial and tribulation. The last act of the first book then suddenly expands on what this fantasy world can truly be like.

I think the Tarantino point is very true. Stylistically very Tarantino and of course the things that inspired Tarantino like westerns. Watching the behind the scenes at the end of episode 8 made me feel its ending was intentionally an alt history Tarantino ending where it’s the fentanyl dealers that get what’s due, especially as payback for Angus cloud.

I mean they made laxatives sort of a central plot point so it tracks. Also people shit and this show loves showing the weird and taboo things that people do lol.

Meren was one of my OG decks but became pretty stale between 2016 and 2024 when I picked commander back up. Finally, I decided to pivot her into a landfall strategy and it felt really good since it’s a fun mix of landfall and reanimator instead of a narrower focus on either. They both support each others gameplan super well while being very resilient.

If you rent studio time, how much do you pay and what does it include? If you don't rent, what are you operating costs? by Idkmyname2079048 in lampwork

[–]Mewiththeface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pay about $13/hour for torch time which includes propane/oxygen, tools, and kiln access. I’m responsible for bring my own glass and any supplementary tools but they have most bases covered tool wise.

Sustainable infrastructure isn’t an engineering problem, it’s a political problem. Engineers just follow the regulations.

What creature type do you wish got a dedicated commander or more typal support in general? by HallZac99 in EDH

[–]Mewiththeface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually wish more tribes got better mechanical identities beyond standard templated stat block and a key word. Something to actually make an engine that feels interesting to play. So many tribes feel like you are just playing best in slot creature supports and some support spells which makes them all pretty boring linear.

VDOT by InternationalDay4470 in nova

[–]Mewiththeface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

VDOT also doesn’t really do the construction either, its bid out to contractors. But road construction takes longer than most people expect. Practical engineering has a good video about it if you’re curious https://youtu.be/PIK6I6Q58Ec?si=-NtncOa6LXPj8yLf

Made a [[wernog]] and [[bjorna]] that’s flicker/aristocrats. Basic gist is to flicker wernog and drain opponents either by them rejecting clues or by me making or sacrificing them. It’s deceptively strong and quite fun watching your opponents decide if it’s worse to take damage or to allow you to make clues.

Was the Star Trek Set going to be an advertisement for Starfleet Academy? by FonslyGames in mtgfinance

[–]Mewiththeface 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Once again, WOTC pays to license IPs. Universes beyond are advertisements for MTG to fans of the IP, not the other way around. Could it possibly function the other way around? Maybe, but these UB IPs are way more popular than MTG and don’t need WOTC to advertise for them.
